Hayward Field is one of the world's best-known historic track and field stadiums, located in the northwest United States in Eugene, Oregon.Nearly a century in age, it has been the home of the University of Oregon's track and field teams since 1921, and was the on-campus home of the varsity football team from 1919 through 1966.Hayward Field was named after track coach Bill Hayward , who ran the Ducks' program from 1904 to 1947.Renovated in 2004, it is one of only five International Association of Athletics Federations Class 1 certified tracks in the United States .

Exciting finish and classic race with such legends as Tony Townsell (Silver State Striders) and Sanyika Hale (L.A. Jets). We were all eleven years old at the time. The race was in Eugene Oregon at Hayward Field, currently the site of the annual Prefontaine Classic and also where the Olympic trials were in 2008. This track meet in 1985 that I competed in drew in the best youth runners from Canda and the United States.

Prior to the panel discussion, Tom and Janet Heinonen and Joe Henderson led a guided tour of recently renovated Hayward Field, offering first-hand commentary on Hayward's historic moments, original construction and many renovations, as well as a preview of the U.S. Olympic Trials.
