Heddal Stave Church
Located at Notodden, Norway, Heddal Stave Church (Norwegian: Heiterdals kircke) is the largest stave church among the 28 stave churches still remained in Norway today. Jonas Garberg and Vebjørn Hefre Bakka were summer youth guides of the church, who introduced us the history and symbols of the old Christian and the heathen traditions presented by the church.

The Heddal stave church / Bokmål Heddal stavkirke (Norway/Norge)
(EN) Heddal stave church (Bokmål Heddal stavkirke, Nynorsk Heddal stavkyrkje) is a stave church located at Heddal in Notodden municipality, Norway.
The church is a triple nave stave church and is Norway's largest stave church. It was constructed at the beginning of the 13th century. After the reformation, the church was in a very poor condition, and a restoration took place during 1849–1851. However, because the restorers lacked the necessary knowledge and skills, yet another restoration was necessary in the 1950s. The interior is marked by the period after the Lutheran Reformation in 1536–1537 and is for a great part a result of the restoration that took place in the 1950s. (Wikipedia).

The Biggest, Best, Baddest, Beautiful..est, Stave Church in Norway *Heddal Stave Church
Heddal stave church is located at Heddal in Notodden municipality, Norway.
Previously nealy one thousand of these wooden, Stave Churches, stood all across Norway, however now there are only 28 left with Heddal (this one) being the largest of the remaining churches. Many of the other churches were pulled down due to being built in the wrong faith. Heddal remained due to the great size of the church it self.
As you'll soon see in the video there is alot of wood. Everything is wood. So much wood.

Heddal Stave Church - Heddal Stavekirke - Norway - Notodden (Legend about the church)
In this short video, we visited a small but very old village built over 250 years ago and Heddal Stave church here in Notodden.
The Church is very valuable for this area, but for Norway as well, because, today in Norway you can find only 30 churches like this one. In the past, there were 3000 churches like this one.
I hope that you will enjoy this video and the story about building the church.

The largest wooden church in Norway. This wooden church is typical of the 13th century Viking era. There is a legend that farmers built this church in three days with the help of a trolley. What is surprising is that this church was made by assembling each tree without using nails at all. I like everything about this church. It was all made by hand. I was sorry I could not see the inside because the door was closed.
