Helen Schuler First Trip
Our first trip into the Helen Schuler Nature Centre and the Lethbridge Nature Reserve in which it stands. For our first trip, we took a trail that loops up and around the entrance to one of the original coal mines from the time before Lethbridge was formed. We explored some of the history of the site and learned some new things. It was a beautiful day that we all enjoyed.
We mention Hawthorns in the video, these are the common hawthorn, which is native to Europe. There are some species that are native to North America but we haven't seen any in the area.
Check us out on twitter, Facebook and patreon.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Here's to a great adventure and hope to see you on the trails!

Pavan Park Equestrian Trail Run | Lethbridge, Alberta
Located within the city limits of Lethbridge, Alberta (1km north of Uplands.) Pavan Park is a large wilderness park area spanning the Old Man River valley, and stretching up into the Coulees towards the highway.
Note: The trails in this valley are prone to flooding in rainy and winter seasons, and the eroded Coulee trail is dangerous in wet conditions. Please use caution when using this trail outside of dry seasons.
This trail run follows the city maintained equestrian trail used by stables housed at a nearby farm across the highway. The path starts from the upper parking area and follows the top of the coulees to a beautiful descent with full view of the Pavan Park valley below. After a slightly rugged descent, the trail switches into a relatively flat shale trail that follows the river and eventually loops back into rougher horse trails again.
For the final ascent, I chose to show off the other primary option of getting into the park by taking the paved road, which is a solid 700m of roadside paved asphalt leading back up towards the starting point at a constant gradual ascent.
Taber to Lethbridge, Alberta - Summer - Timelapse
To Lethbridge from Taber on my way back home from a Bow Island business trip.
Taber /ˈteɪbər/ is a town in southern Alberta, Canada within the Municipal District of Taber. It is located approximately 51 km (32 mi) east of the City of Lethbridge at the intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 36.
Taber is famous for its corn due to the large amounts of sunshine the area receives. It is therefore known as the Corn Capital of Canada and holds an annual Cornfest in the last week of August.
Lethbridge /ˈlɛθbrɪdʒ/ is a city in the province of Alberta, Canada, and the largest city in southern Alberta. It is Alberta's fourth-largest city by population after Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer, and the third-largest by land area after Calgary and Edmonton. The nearby Canadian Rockies contribute to the city's warm summers, mild winters, and windy climate. Lethbridge lies southeast of Calgary on the Oldman River.
Lethbridge is the commercial, financial, transportation and industrial centre of southern Alberta. The city's economy developed from drift mining for coal in the late 19th century and agriculture in the early 20th century. Half of the workforce is employed in the health, education, retail and hospitality sectors, and the top five employers are government-based. The only university in Alberta south of Calgary is in Lethbridge, and two of the three colleges in southern Alberta have campuses in the city. Cultural venues in the city include performing art theatres, museums and sports centres.
