Nezu Jinja Shrine - Tokyo ᴴᴰ ● 根津神社 東京
► Here's a look at the relatively overlooked Nezu Jinja - a Shinto buddhist Shrine in Eastern Tokyo. Often overshadowed by it's more famous cousins, Meiji Jingu and Senso-Ji, which is a shame, as Nezu Jinja is really beautiful in its own way, and somehow offers a more intimate atmosphere than most other temples and shrines around Tokyo.
If you're looking for a genuine classic Japan experience, at a place which isn't overcrowded with hordes of western tourists, then Nezu Jinja is really the place to go. I spent 2½ hours there, on an early Sunday afternoon, and I didn't see any foreigners at all.
If you happen to be in Tokyo, I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful shrine. Easy access to Nezu Station by Chiyoda Line, Tokyo Metro. - Enjoy!

LITTLE EDO 小江戸: Hidden Gem outside of Tokyo
Just about a 40 minute train ride from Ikebukuro Station to Saitama, 川越市 Kawagoe-shi, you can find a hidden gem. Traditional buildings and beautiful shrines, Little Edo 小江戸(こえど) has something to offer. You have to try the sweet potato ice cream!!!

Hikawa Shrine from the Sailor Moon manga
This is a quick look around Hikawa Shrine In Azabu Juban, Tokyo. This is the real-life inspiration/location for Hikawa Shrine, home and workplace of Sailor Mars, in the Sailor Moon manga. It's a cute, quiet place that I think many hardcore fans of the Sailor Moon franchise would enjoy seeing.

'The Senbon Torii' in Nezu shrine 根津神社の『千本鳥居』
Nezu Shrine, a national important cultural property, remains in the original state that was established in 1706. The shrine boasts full bloom of about 3,000 azaleas of 200 varieties in early summer. The Otome Inari Shrine, found inside the shrine grounds. The Senbon Torii were constructed by people whose wishes were granted. By passing through them from north to south, it is said that any maliciousness plaguing you will be cleared away.
東京の根津神社は、1706年に建てられたままの状態で残る、国の指定重要文化財。初夏にはつつじが満開になり、約100種類3000株が咲き誇ります。境内にある、乙女稲荷神社。「千本鳥居」は、願いがかなった人が建てたもので北から南に通り抜けると、邪気がはらわれるそうです。

Akasaka Hikawa Shrine (With guide text) - 360° Video 4K
From AC 951, it has been enshrined at Busho Toshima-gun Hitotsugimura. So it has more than a thousand year history.Over 100 years later from enshrinement, there was a drought in Kanto region. People prayed for rain and the prayer was answered. Afterwards, similar rituals have been held for the prevention of plagues or disasters at the shrine.
In the Edo period, when Yoshimune TOKUGAWA, the 8th seii tai shogun succeeded the shogunate in 1716, he commanded a member of the shogun's council of elders, Tadayuki MIZUNO to construct the current shrine building at the shrine’s current site in 1729. One year later, at 26 April 1730, the sacred symbol has been installed in the shrine building and at 28 April, the shogun visited the shrine directly.
Since then to Ieshige TOKUGAWA, the 14th seii tai shogun, the sealed letters from successive Shoguns (cultural properties designated by Minato Ward) have been issued to the shrine.

Jinkosai in Sanno Festival 2012 (2) (山王祭 神幸祭)
In June of the 10th year of Bunmei (1478), Ota Dokan began worshipping the Hie Shrine's devided tutelary deity, Kawagoe Sannosha,the guardian deity of Edo Castle.
Since then,the Sanno Festival has been held each year in June for more than 500 years.
The Sanno Festival is a collective term that includes more than 20 festivals.
The Jinkosai, the largest parade, which is held only during the major festival years,coinsides with displays of splendid period picture scrolls in the city center.
