Ptarmigan Cirque Hike, Kananaskis Alberta
September 7/2018
Ptarmiagan Cirque is a trail in Kananaskis Country, about 1.5 hours from Calgary Alberta. The hike itself is fairly short, a 4.3 Kilometer loop with an elevation gain of 355 meters. Today I went a little further, 7.5 kilometers with an elevation gain of 369 meters.
The hike features a beautful Alpine Meadow, coming into fall, a creek and waterfalls and spectacular views of the mountains. The trail head is at Highwood Meadows Day Use area and is near the top of the highest paved pass in Canada.
I have upped my game a little bit, buy purchasing some new camera equipment, a new Canon t6i, a gimbal and a few other accessories. I still have my GoPro Hero Session as well.
I welcome any comments. Please subscribe to my Channel if you would like to see more videos weekly. If you enjoyed this video please give it a thumbs up. Next week we will be hiking Coliseum Mountain by Nordegg Alberta.

Grizzly Peak, My Hardest Hike Ever. OMG! Kananaskis, Alberta
August 5/2019 Summer Hike
Today we are in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. We will be hiking/scrambling to the top of Grizzly Peak. The trail is 5.6 kilometers out and back, with an elevation gain of 875 meters. According to AllTrails, I hiked 7.7 kilometers with an elevation gain of 884 meters. This one was a beast, my hardest hike yet. All you do is go straight up. Once you get to the backside to the mountain the views are unbelievable, a whole different world. There is a beautiful meadow before you make the last push up to the summit. I saw around 40 mountain goats on the other side of the meadow. If you plan on doing this hike/scramble make sure you have all the proper gear. And of course the 360 views from the top are spectacular.

Chester Lake Summer Hike, in the SNOW. Kananaskis Country, Alberta
August 17/2019 Summer Hike (Or so I thought)
Today we are in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. We had planned to do a summer hike, but Alberta weather had it's own mind. The trail is 9.7 kilometers out and back, with an elevation gain of 424 meters. The hike is a very easy one, as the elevation is very gradual. The lake is surrounded by beautiful mountains, and just before the lake you will cross a beautiful meadow. It was quite a shock seeing the snow, but this made it beautiful hiking up through the trees. A great hike for the whole family.

Ptarmigan Cirque Hike
This hike is considered one of the best for seeing the Larch trees turning golden in the Kananaskis in autumn. Already starting from the Highwood pass parking lot in the sub alpine, it quickly reaches alpine at the crest of the Cirque. There is an easy circuit trail within the Cirque, but the more adventurous can challenge the peak of Mt. Rae, one of the highest mountains in the region, via a direct path. Hiking at this time of year always provides the potential for snow at higher elevations.
