Homer Watson's House (famous painter)
A look inside The Homer Watson House & Gallery, located on Old Mill Road, Kitchener, ON, Including a strange conversation and Doon Mills Ruins. I had to mute most of when I was inside the building due to noise, I apologize:/ I was the last one to leave before they closed for the day though, so luckily it was quiet enough to be able to catch the conversation near the end. I hope some find this interesting!
The first room that I enter at the back of the house is the Homer Watson museum, the other rooms are displaying artwork from grade 12 students for the Open Gallery Students Program. I was told there are offices upstairs, and I'm not sure what's in the basement.
Homer Watson was a famous Canadian landscape painter, the man who first saw Canada as Canada, rather than dreamy blurred pastiches of European painting. He was born Jan 14th 1855 in the village of Doon (now a part of Kitchener). In 1866, when Homer was 11, he recieved his first set of watercolour paints and a drawing book from a teacher. His father passed away when Homer was only 6, and after his elder brother Jude died in an accident in 1867, he decided to leave school to help support his mother and 3 siblings, but he never stopped painting. In 1872 he started his career in art, and quickly became a great success. In 1881, Homer and his wife Roxanne moved into the third floor of this house (originally built by Adam Ferrie Jr. in 1834). Then in 1883, Homer purchased the entire house, and it became his permanent residence for the rest life. He died May 30th 1936, and lies buried in Doon Presbyterian Cemetery in Kitchener, ON. This house was recognized as a historic site back in the 1950's.
There's plenty more information on Watson and his family, his artwork, and this house, it would be nearly impossible to fit it all in one video lol If you're ever in the area, I suggest stopping by and taking a look! There's much more to look at, and they have a small gift shop as well where you can purchase small prints of Watson's paintings.
I had heard about the hauntings of the Watson house, but since I didn't see anything on their site about it, I wasn't expecting the woman working at the museum to talk to me about it, but it was interesting hearing what she had to say. Who knows if it's spirits or if it's something else, all I can say is I personally didn't notice anything out of the ordinary on my visit there
I simply had to ask if Homer was one of the ones that people have claimed to have seen, because I noticed when reading/hearing others experiences about this, they never mention Homer. It's always somebody else. I found that a bit odd, and after hearing her say there are 5, I just simply had to ask. But apparently, nobody has ever claimed to have seen Homer himself.
Adam Ferrie Jr., the man who built the house that's now known as Homer Watson's house, is actually the same man that built the Doon Mills.
I've always loved Homer's paintings, and I know I'm not the only one!
Thanks for watching :D I'll be getting back to my usual exploring within a day or so!

Homer Watson's Boyhood Home
Homer Ransford Watson (January 14, 1855 -- May 30, 1936) was a Canadian landscape painter. He was the man who first saw Canada as Canada, rather than as dreamy blurred pastiches of European painting, according to J. Russell Harper, a former curator of Canadian art at the National Gallery of Canada. He was a member and president (1918--1922) of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, as well as a founding member and first president (1907--1911) of the Canadian Art Club.
Homer lived and painted at his homestead (now the Homer Watson House & Gallery) for over 40 years, but where did he grow up? Join the Homer Watson House & Gallery as we take a peek at Homer Watson's childhood home. Mike & Endla Loney have painstakingly restored Homer's childhood home so that it stands today! They are truly heritage champions.

About The River Rolls
The River Rolls is a musical song cycle written by local composers Charlene Nafziger and Mike Erb with lyrics by Paul Knowles that features 14 songs linked with narration that tells the story and history of Waterloo Region.
Moonlight on the Grand was created to reflect on the arts and culture in our beautiful city through the works of the internationally famous Homer Ransford Watson (1855-1936). This song was co-written by Watson; that is, all of the phrases in the verses are simply names he gave to his paintings. He clearly had a keen sense of poetic meter: (source: theriverrolls.ca)

Waterloo Region Museum
Michael Reddekopp and I visit the Waterloo Region Museum off of Homer Watson Blvd. on Huron Rd. in Kitchener Ontario. We got a chance to explore the fascinating museum filled with the history of the tri-city area (Cambridge, Kitchener & Waterloo), cultures and nature. A big surprise exhibit that strolled right into the museum took us to a different place where trapeze acts, tightrope walkers, clowns, etc. call home.

What I Wouldn't Do - Eastwood Collegiate - #CBCMusicClass
EASTWOOD COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE
Grade 11/12 Songwriting/Recording Class
Rebel Recording Studio
This class is fortunate to have an excellent facility and a great pool of talent to work with at Eastwood - home of the Rebels - in Kitchener, Ontario. Most students in this class are in the Waterloo Region Integrated Arts Program, representing all the school’s different disciplines, including instrumental music, vocal music, strings, visual arts, dance, drama, and productions technology. We chose “What I Wouldn’t Do” because it suited the skill set of the class in that we could apply some creative arrangement choices without straying too far from the original tune. We also liked the fact that it was written and performed by a great Canadian songwriter.

Homer Watson and Block Line Rd roundabout troubles
After all of the accidents that happened last year at the roundabout at Homer Watson and Block Line Rd, the region has decided to put two more roundabouts in the area. Spoke TV's Matt Howell went to the round about to get the local opinion on the matter.
