Bee House from 19th century in Slovenia, Čebelarski muzej, čebelarstvo Tigeli
We visited a little bee museum called, Beekeeping Tigeli, Krapje, Slovenia. They are the proud owners of Bee House, built at the end of 19th century. They produce two tones of honey per year with a help of bees, of course:)

Bled, Slovenia - Honey, Schnapps, and Craziness
- This video chronicles a crazy series of events that occurred one evening in Bled, Slovenia. This is what happens when you've been walking around all day in nature and become rather, well, rather bored you might say ;P.
Here, I meet some nice people, tour a haunted house, have schnapps with a stranger in his house, and finally make it back home. This was a really interesting, albeit odd, day.

Our Slovenian Excursion Ritual Year 2011.mp4
The excursion was part of the Seventh Annual Conference of the SIEF Ritual Year Working Group, November 11-13, 2011, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, sponsored by the Slovenian Research Agency, Scientific Research Centre SASA, and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
We visited Novo Mesto, Dolenski Museum, Pleterje, Carthusian Monastery, and Zolnir vineyard cottage for St. Martin's Feast.
The highlight of the excursion was the St. Martin's feast: Flat Cake with Cottage Cheese, In-house blueberry liqueur, walnut liqueur, or pear brandy; wild mushroom soup, roast duck and goose with flatbread and braised red cabbage, roast wild boar in the Lower Carniolan hunter style, cheese dumplings, buckwheat kasha with porcini, buckwheat crepes with spinach filling, grated cabbage with beans. And for dessert: walnut-honey potica and apple strudel. All served with Slovenian wines, which are excellent.
Beekeeping Academy of Slovenia
The main purpose of the Academy is to provide informal training about the beekeeping methods developed by Slovenian beekeepers. The BAS is a constituent part of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (AIS) and is located at the Institute’s headquarters in Ljubljana. The Academy was established in response to a growing demand from abroad for the rich knowledge of Slovenian beekeepers. It is chaired by the Academy principal and a programme committee composed. The BAS presents an opportunity for Slovene and foreign experts from different branches to work together in a joint mission to spread professional expertise on bees and beekeeping in Slovenia, and to make practical use of this broader network of knowledge. Through its activities, the BAS will endeavour to raise awareness of the importance of lifelong learning, better connect the Slovenian regions and promote tourism. The major goal is to help develop beekeepers with broad practical knowledge, adhering to the fundamental value of living in harmony with nature, and with a global overview of apiculture, who will proudly demonstrate the knowledge they have gained at the Beekeeping Academy of Slovenia.

Beekeeping-themed adventures await you in every corner of our country. You can include the beekeeping experience in your every visit to Slovenia.
Explore with us special features of the beekeeping land and connect with the nature. Slovenia is the right destination for old and new discoveries, special experiences, impact tourism and lovely surprises.
TheBEEKeeper in Slovenia
A quick and funny trailer from our visit with Slovenian beekeeper Cebelarstvo Veselic. The excellent and all natural honey is made from their home and small property in the Bela Krajina town of Metlika, where he's the 3d generation to carry on this tradition (and he hopes his sons will continue it).

The United Nations World Bee Day is to showcase the importance of bees and beekeeping for insuring food security, combating famine, and maintaining biodiversity. It is said that if bees became extinct today, humans would be extinct within four years.
Of the 100 differing crops that provide humanity with 90 percent of its food, 70 percent are pollinated by bees. So what is causing the talk of bee extinction? Pesticides, parasites, and fewer and fewer nectar-bearing areas.
The United Nations General Assembly declared May 20th as World Bee Day. Every year on this day the attention of the global public will be drawn to the importance of preserving bees and other pollinators. People will be reminded of the importance of bees and invited to take concrete action to preserve and protect them. The resolution was co-sponsored by 115 UN Member States, including Australia, USA, China, and all the European Union Member States.
World Bee Day is an initiative of the Republic of Slovenia, which undertook a concerted three year effort to obtain the resolution of the United Nations in December 2017.
May 20 has been chosen as World Bee Day as on this day in the year 1734, Slovenian Anton Janša, a pioneer of modern beekeeping of his time was born. He is also credited as being the world’s first beekeeping teacher.
