The 2nd St Magnus Conference was a multi-disciplinary international conference that took place on the Shetland Islands in April 2014 entitled 'The Northern Isles and the Sea'. It brought together islanders and island scholars around the themes of maritime traditions, island narratives and disciplinary cross-currents. The principal themes of the conference were:
The Whale Road – The Northern Isles during the Viking Age; Fish and Ships – The Later Maritime Culture and Boatbuilding; Sailscapes and Mindscapes; Tall Ship Tales – Literature and the Sea.
These are the recordings of most of the conference presentations.
