The Huka Falls River Cruise - A Spectacular Boat Ride | Taupo | New Zealand
In October 2016, I spent a few days in the Central North Island region of New Zealand.
On day 3, I went exploring around Taupo, Kinloch, Reid's Farm Recreation Reserve, the Huka Falls, Aratiatia Dam and the Kaimanawa Forest.
The river cruise to the Huka Falls was an excellent way to spend an afternoon. The boat takes you quite close to the falls, and although they're not high you can feel the tremendous force of the water as it comes crashing down and the resulting spray wafts past you.
I'd definitely recommend the boat ride. It's reasonably priced and suitable for all ages. Check their website here:
This is part four of a seven part travel vlog series featuring the Central North Island region.

As an avid travel fan I've done many trips overseas trips to explore the world, learn about history & culture, experience adventure and try exotic food. However recently, I've decided to put more effort into exploring my own beautiful country - New Zealand. People come from all over the world to see NZ and rave about how amazing it is. It is time for me to see the beauty that sits right on my doorstep.

NEW ZEALAND ROAD TRIP HUKA FALLS AND CRATERS OF THE MOON
NEW ZEALAND ROAD TRIP HUKA FALLS AND CRATERS OF THE MOON
Another day another waterfall, but not just any waterfall because today we are going to the highest volume of water waterfall in all of New Zealand. The Huka Falls are a set of waterfalls on the Waikato River that drains Lake Taupo in New Zealand. The volume of water flowing through often approaches 220,000 litres per second. We wanted to do it right so we took Huka Falls River Cruise to get right at the base of the falls and it was amazing. One of the other things that New Zealand is known for is all of its geothermal parks. Bubbling mud, hot water geysers, and smokey fields are a very popular and beautiful place to visit so we picked the Craters of the Moon Geothermal Park near Taupo. This was one of the coolest walks ever and where some of the parks smelt very sulfuric the Craters of the Moon's smell wasn't overpowering.
We discovered our passion for traveling, beginning with our destination wedding in Jamaica in 2007. This year we decided to leave everything behind with a goal of traveling to 30 countries. We intend to record our experiences with a day in the life vlog, with the hopes of inspiring others to get out and see the world! Check out our new daily vlog as we start backbacking through Southeast Asia.

The Huka Falls | Taupo, New Zealand
In October 2016, I spent a few days in the Central North Island region of New Zealand.
On day 3, I went exploring around Taupo, Kinloch, Reid's Farm Recreation Reserve, the Huka Falls, Aratiatia Dam and the Kaimanawa Forest.
This is a short video of the beautiful Huka Falls on the Waikato River. The water is teal coloured and flows from Lake Taupo, through the falls and on into the Aratiatia Dam. Jetboating and a river cruise are great ways to see the waterfalls and river.
