Driving up to the Huon Bush Retreat, Huonville, Tasmania
The Huon Bush Retreat is a very special spot, just outside Huonville in Tasmania. Their website ( states: There is one steep hill that can be a little difficult for a few types of vehicle in very dry, dusty conditions. Some city based drivers may not be used to driving on this type of road. We provide a guide booklet at the bottom of the hill to explain how to safely negotiate the road. For first time visitors to the Huon Bush Retreat, I have provided this video footage of us driving up the last 500m to reception in December 2011.

Huonville flood
You can see the high water level from the flooded river in Huonville.
Glaziers Bay Cottage, Glaziers Bay
Glaziers Bay Cottage is a great place to stay if you're heading down to the Hartz Mountains, or visiting the Fat Pig Farm.
Located about 15 or so minutes south of Huonville on the eastern side on the Huon river. With Cygnet only 10 minutes away as well.
With a beautiful outlook, it's a relaxing place to stay.

Eat Well Tasmania - visit to the Huon Valley
In late 2017 Eat Well Tasmania visited the Huon Valley in Tasmania. We visited the new Willie Smiths Apple Shed Produce and Artisan Market and The Green Cherry Shed, a seasonal farm shop well stocked with Huon Valley grown fruit. This video gives you a quick look at the beautiful valley. It is a superb place to visit if you are interested in seasonal fresh Tasmanian food. Get down there and #getfruity and #vegitup

Salamanca Market (Tasmania)
Salamanca Market in Hobart is the biggest tourist attraction in Tasmania.
It is open every Saturday. It opened in 1972 as just 12 stalls and now it has over 300 stalls.
It is Tasmania's most visited venue attracting 25,000 to 40,000 visitors every Saturday.
At Salamanca Place, convict labour built the warehouses which have now been turned into boutiques, restaurants, art galleries and Cafe's.

Southwest Tasmania
Recorded on January 9, 2007. The video begins as we takeoff in a small plane from the Hobart International Airport. There are spectacular views of Australia's island state as we fly over downtown Hobart, the Huon Valley, Federation Peak and Bathurst Harbour. We land at the small landing strip in the Southwest World Heritage National Park. After a boat trip on Bathurst Harbour it is back in the air for the return flight to Hobart, this time by the scenic coastal route.

Huon Valley Mid Winter Festival | Discover Tasmania
There'll be cider, feasting and folk music in abundance. Things may seem a little strange at first: kings, queens, processions, giving gifts to the trees, shouting, banging, fire, candlelight, and so forth, but what else would you expect? At the Huon Valley Mid Winter Festival, wassailing is at its core. The ages-old tradition of scaring nasties out of cider apple trees, from orchard to orchard, in order to bring on a stellar autumn yield.
