Summerside Harbour Outer Range Lighthouses, Prince Edward Island
The Summerside Outer Range Lights, which began operation in 1991, are the most recent set of enclosed range lights to be established on Prince Edward Island. When properly aligned, the red range lights guide vessels to the mouth of Summerside Harbour, near the Indian Head Lighthouse, from where they can use the Summerside Range Lights to proceed up the harbour.
The two lighthouses are similar in appearance, both being square, pyramidal towers topped by enclosed, square lantern rooms that are surrounded by a simple metal gallery. A white, trapezoidal daymark with a red vertical stripe is mounted on the seaward face of both towers. The front tower is 9 metres (29.5 feet) tall, while the rear tower is 10.1 metres (33.2 feet) tall. As the front tower is located near the shore at the western end of the harbour, its focal plane of 9.3 metres (30.6) is roughly the same height as the tower. The focal plane of the rear range light is 14.8 metres (48.5 feet).

This series is produced to expedite the release of information by making unedited manuscript material available to the public in advance of formal publication, and to act as a repository for relevant supporting data that are referred to in published reports. Open Files can be maps; reports; voluminous data sets resulting from multiparameter geophysical and geochemical surveys; consultants' reports; preliminary, unvetted field and laboratory results. They are all critically reviewed by one specialist. The series is geared towards specialists (mining industry, land-use planning, geoscience students) rather than the general public.

Howards Cove Lighthouse & Harbour, Summer 2012
This footage of the Howards Cove Lighthouse and Harbour was taken on July 22, 2012.
This is the little lighthouse located at Howards Cove, Prince Edward Island. This wood frame lighthouse sits on top of the hill overlooking the harbour and fish plant. Placing the lighthouse on the hill made a high tower unnecessary, therefore this the shortest lighthouse in the province at about nineteen feet high, however it still has a focal height of over 46 feet.
The lights signature is white: flash, 2 seconds; eclipse 4 seconds, and has a range of about 15 miles / 24km.

The structure was built in 1961, it consists of a skeleton tower with an enclosed upper portion. This tower replaced a previous wood tower. The metal tower stands about fifty feet tall and served as the back or rear range light, a metal open tower served (now toppled over) served as the front range light.
This range light is no longer in service and the lighting apparatus has been removed.
