TOUR of NORTHERN ICELAND! (AKUREYRI, GODAFOSS, MYVATAN, and DETTIFOSS) ????????2018 vlog
Welcome to Northern Iceland! In this vlog, we embark on a day trip adventure with Air Iceland Connect to see the otherworldly volcanic landscapes and waterfalls in Iceland's northern region.
This tour is for nature lovers and is best to explore during summer. We fly from Reykjavik to Akureyri, a 45-minute flight. We take a full day 10 hour guided tour that includes transportation. Our first stop is the stunning waterfall of Goðafoss.
We travel to Lake Myvatn´s unique nature and pseudo-craters, followed by the Dimmuborgir lava labyrinth. One of the top sights is bubbling Hverarond (aka Hverir), a geothermal area noted for its bubbling pools of mud & steaming fumaroles emitting sulfuric gas. The desolate landscape looks like mars.
Next, we reach one of the main highlights - Dettifoss which is Europe´s most powerful waterfall featured in the movie Prometheus. Next, we visit the volcanic wonderlands of Vatnajokull National Park, Jokulsargljufur canyon, Hljodaklettar (Echo cliffs), Asbyrgi a horse-shoe-shaped cliff formation. We finish our tour in the quaint Husavik fishing town. Lastly, we head to Akureyri to fly back to Reykjavik!

Downtown Akureyri - North Iceland
Walking downtown #Akureyri and the waterfront in the North of #Iceland.
Akureyri (pronounced ‘ah-koo-rare-ee’) is Iceland’s second biggest city but has a population of only 18,000.
It sits at the end of the Eyjafjörður fjord and is a popular day stop for cruise ships, there was a different ship there every day. Although, as they were not massive ships, they didn’t overwhelm the small town.
The Akureyrarkirkja (Church of Akureyri) sits on a hill above the town and has great views over the town. The church was designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, the same man who designed the Hallgrímskirkja, the landmark church in Reykjavik.
Akureyri is about a 6-hour drive from Reykjavik but you can fly there with Air Iceland.

AKUREYRI & LAVA FIELDS // Iceland 2018
#AKUREYRI & #LAVA FIELDS // Iceland 2018
Hello everyone! I am very pleased to show you the second part of my Iceland vlog series! ????????
This trip was a big deal for my fiancée and I and also for her parents. When my fiancée and I first started dating, we already dreamed about traveling to #Iceland together. So over two years later we finally did it! We also took along her mom and dad because her mom had dreamt about going to Iceland ever since she was fourteen years old. It was a big dream come true for her!
In this second episode, we start our journey in Akureyri, the largest city of Iceland outside of the Capital Region. Shortly after, we visit #Goðafoss waterfall. This is where the Icelandic leaders once disposed of their pagan idols after converting to Christianity! Afterwards, we continue our adventure at Lake #Mývatn. The lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption just 2300 years ago! We also feed some cute ducks ???? To end off our day, we visit the geothermal area of #Hverir and #Krafla. Hverir is a #geothermal spot with bubbling pools of mud and steaming fumaroles emitting sulfuric gas which smell very much like rotten eggs! ???????? Krafla is also a beautiful area with a geothermal power plant and the small Lake #Víti, which is an explosion crater formed in 1724 by a large eruption in the Krafla volcano ???? Later, we drove back to Akureyri and spent the night in our beautiful Airbnb!
I look forward to showing you guys all the other adventures that we had in Iceland! More videos coming soon!

[1080p] Trip In North Of Iceland In Winter, Akureyri, January 2016
Inspired by Iceland
ICE(land) -- a kitsch or a masterpiece?
To tell you the truth, it really looks almost kitschy. You drive half an hour and arrive to one planet. Then you drive another half an hour and suddenly you find yourself on a completely different planet. It's all green at one time, then it's all black, and in another part it's all red, after an hour's drive everything turns all yellow, further on you see a combination of all the above. You see columns of smoke rising from hills, massive glaciers, surrounded by endless black lava fields, the Atlantic Ocean, and millions of waterfalls which after a while you don't even notice anymore, since there's too many.
The only constant in Iceland is the ever changing weather condition :). As the old local Viking wisdom goes: If you don't like the weather now, wait five minutes -- it'll probably get worse. Heh...
It gets pretty cold up there, but you easily forget about that, since every couple of meters you run across a hot spring, a hot tub, or a whole hot river, in which you can freely soak in a pensioner way and let the time pass you by. Besides, it's ICELAND! You cannot expect palm trees and +30⁰C there.
The nature is really crazy!!! Waaaaauuuu and look at that and the best and yeeeey are words, which you say around 100 times a day.
If you happen to be interested in how the end of the world looks like (in Iceland this means Látrabjarg or to put it better -- a place on the far west at the back of beyond) -- a huge steep cliff and beneath a kilometres-long orange-red sandy beach, wind blowing 150 km/h, the ocean and millions of different birds. Among them the sexiest are the clumsy Atlantic Puffins, which are some kind of gurus of this part of the earth. And then comes one these extremely likable two-legged feathery models... only half a meter away from me, while lying at the edge of the precipice... and says directly into my face -- You're such a puffin! :)
Iceland is completely out of mind! The colour palette is edgy and appears to be gaudy, but soon you realize that it's more like a harmony of a wonderful Hundertwasser mosaic. Even though everything is in contrast, it is on the exact perfect place and exactly the way it is supposed to be. The spaciousness of untouched nature, the quietness, endlessness, freedom, that you can practically breathe - or feel boiling underneath your feet... boiling really intensely. You can almost feel wild rhythms of Orff's Carmina Burana flowing through its veins. Iceland is elegant and wild at the same time. Iceland is rock'n'roll. Iceland is a balm for the soul!
To put it differently -- if an almighty being really exists, whether it's Allah or some kind of a purple osteoporotic worm, than Iceland must be his orgasm, his chef-d'œuvre, his Mona Lisa. Definitely a masterpiece!

Iceland Vlog | Beautiful Reykjavik, Akureyri, Glacier, Gullfoss & Blue Lagoon | Winter Season
One day in our living room, we were scrolling through our facebook newsfeed. We stumbled upon a video. The video warned us about the limited time we could see the aurora borealis during the winter. It was history from then on. We began our research and planning to Iceland! Like all our previous itineraries, this one was no less jammed packed list. Our entire journey took about four and half days. Not to mention, there was only 5 hours of daylight during the winter. We must had drove at least 31 hours to circle the island. Luckily, we brought all our ski apparel and bought ice cleats to brave the icy paths. A journey not for the faintest of hearts.

Georg Oskar / Art Exhibition / Akureyri / Iceland / www.georgoskar.com
My name is Georg Oskar Giannakoudakis, I am an artist with my main focus on painting.
Graduated from Akureyri School of Visual Arts in 2009.
The progress of painting I think has a big role in why I choose to paint. For me it is physical act but at the same time a total meditation, and I like to be in that stage of contrast.
Like many others I do talk about my life and I document it, I look at each piece as a page of a visual diary. My subject is usually very common things which we don't notice at all, and they can be forgotten very easily but I want to remember those little things so the best way to do that for me is to paint it and use life as an idea to work with.
Even if you live in a small town of 18 thousand people like my self, you can get so much influence and inspiration of daily life if you notice those little things around you, and if you have a way to progress it in to something visually, poem and so on I think that gives it a deeper meaning and your work will find it ways to developed by it self and comes as good as it gets in most pure way.

ICELAND - Beautiful scenery with inspiring music
A photographer and his campervan explore the spectacular island of films sets.
This was a dream holiday travelling the south and west coasts of Iceland in April 2016 experiencing some of the wonders of the world. The snow capped mountains and mirror like reflections in the ice lagoons are images I'll never forget. See the monumental waterfalls with colourful bows, aqua blue rushing rivers, Ice bergs thrown onto a black sandy beach by the pounding waves.
Simply Breath-taking.
Thanks for watching,
