The International Stingless Bee Centre In Ghana - RELAXING ASMR
After a few days in Cape Coast we finally set out for a fun day trip. The main focus of that trip was to go to the Kakum National Park with it's famous canopy walk. But before visiting the park we decided to stop at the International Stingless Bee Center nearby.
And we were so happy we did. The visit was educational and even fun, we loved seeing the bees swarming in and out of their hives. In the center we got to see three different types of stingless bees. And if you think it would be easy to steal their honey, think again! They know how protect themselves, even without a stinger - for example they would crawl into your nose, mouth or ears by the hundreds!
But if you keep your distance they can be your best honey making friends. We hope you enjoy the ASMR sounds of bees, it sounds relaxing to us. Oh, at the beginning of the video you can see propolis which has tons of health benefits.
In a few days we're going to write about the Stingless Bee Center on our Ghana Travel Blog:

Stingless Bee Farm in the Central Region of Ghana
The first International Stingless Bee Centre (ISBC) in the country and Africa has been inaugurated at Abrafo in the Twifo Heman Lower Denkyira District in the Central Region.
The initiative, undertaken by the Department of Entomology and Wildlife of the School of Biological Sciences of the University of Cape Coast, is to train rural farmers to keep stingless bees which are essential in pollination and crop production.
The project, which began in 2005, has so far trained 150 extension agents and farmers in stingless bee keeping.
The centre seeks to also develop honey-based medicines and baby colonies for sale and educate the youth on the importance of stingless bees to growth and wealth creation.
The centre is also intended to promote eco-tourism and help attract tourists to it.
Kakum National Park Canopy Walk - Day Trip From Cape Coast - Ghana - Africa
I was so looking forward to this day, finally a day trip again! So we left late afternoon, stopped first at the Stingless Be Center nearby before we finally got to the Kakum National Park with its famous Canopy Walk.
At first, I must admit, I was a bit underwhelmed, but the further we got into the jungle the prettier and adventurous it got. So the overall verdict was ... LOVED IT! One advise I would like to give, stay over night! We didn't see any animals but to see those you even need to get further away from the park entrance. They even have elephants!
We're going to be writing soon about the Kakum National Park Canopy Walk on our Ghana Travel Blog, so stay tuned:

History lesson at the Elmina Slave Dungeon in Ghana, West Africa
During the #akomatour2019 we visited the Elmina Slave Dungeon. It was chilling to hear the history of all the years of European colonization, raping of African women and degradation of African Men. Specifically learning about the use of Christianity to aid in the enslavement process was heart wrenching. Join us in 2020 to learn and experience the slave dungeons. The connection made is a paramount part of our own healing as children of the Diaspora.
