Inverewe Gardens
A quick walk around Inverewe Gardens, Poolewe - 16 May 2015
Inverewe Garden - Scotland (HD1080p)
Inverewe Garden Scotland
Inverewe in the Scottish Highlands on the north west coast at a latitude of 57.8 degrees which is further north than Moscow and about the same as Hudson's Bay in Canada.
The garden was created in 1862 by Osgood Mackenzie on the 2,100 acres estate bought for him by his mother. Osgood Mackenzie, succeeded by his daughter Mairi, transformed this once barren, windswept headland into a beautiful garden where, due to the warm air from the Gulf Stream passing over that part of Scotland, they managed to grow some tropical plants from around the World.
It is pleasant to walk around but this visit was also to see The Giving Tree Sculpture that was put in the garden since our last visit.

Inverewe Gardens ( National Trust Scotland) May 2019
Join me for a look at around at the beautiful Inverewe Gardens. National Trust Scotland look after and own these gardens at Inverewe in the North West of Scotland. This whole area is wonderful, however we only had enough time to visit the gardens on this day trip. It was a long journey from our holiday accommodation ( 125 miles each way ) it took about 3 hrs each way! The weather was dull and wet for most of the drive there. Thankfully by the time we started to walk around the huge gardens the sun came out and it was just perfect. The gardens are
The garden is perched on a peninsula at the edge of Loch Ewe amid the rugged landscape of Wester Ross. This historic garden is 21 hectare (54 acre) is one of Scotland’s most popular botanical attractions. It is surrounded by over 809 hectares (2,000 acres) of estate managed for conservation.
It was created out of bare rock and a few scrub willows in 1862 by Osgood Mackenzie.
This garden it’s full of colourful, exotic plants from around the world. Including the most northerly planting of rare Wollemi pines, olearia from New Zealand, Tasmanian eucalypts, rhododendrons from China and many more trees and plants from around the world. These plants flourish here, despite the northerly latitude, thanks to the warm currents of the Gulf Stream and the foresight of Osgood Mackenzie, who planted over 40 hectares (100 acres) of woodland to shelter the garden.
It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful gardens in Scotland, Inverewe is a must for anyone who loves nature. I agree it is a beautiful place to visit however I actually prefer another of the NTS gardens just below Oban called Arduaine Garden I did a video from there last May here is the link.

Touring Scotland in a Motorhome #11 Inverewe Gardens to Applecross NC500
Inverewe Gardens, Poolewe to Applecross #11 Tuesday 26th June
Leaving the beautiful Inverewe Gardens Campsite I was heading for Applecross. The weather was getting better and it was almost time for the air conditioning at a steady 70 degrees. The latter part of the drive was the most enjoyable, I prefer the long way round to Applecross rather than the Applecross Pass, the views are plentiful and there are many places to stop and take in the views! The campsite at Applecross can be very busy mid-summer so booking is recommended.
A 5-minute walk to the Inn takes you down to the front where there is ample seating outside, the food is excellent and the cosy bar friendly. It provides B&B and again booking is advised. A superb spot to end the day and watch the sunset with a cool drink!!
