Ipoh, Malaysia - Travel Around The World | Top best places to visit in Ipoh
Top best places to visit in Ipoh, Malaysia
Ipoh is one of the country’s largest cities, it lies on the west coast of the Malaysian peninsula.
It used be called the City of Millionaires referring to the fortunes made during the tin rush.
You can see splendid architecture around the Old Town.
The best examples are the Court House, the Town Hall,
And the Railway Station, dubbed “Taj Mahal of Ipoh”.
Nearby the Station Square are the Birch Memorial Clocktower, a popular tourist spot,
And the State Mosque.
There are not many landmarks in the city center but there are some interesting buildings worth seeing, like:
Darul Ridzuan Museum,
The Old Federal Building,
St. Michael's Institution,
And several more.
Many Malaysian cities have a large green area in the center.
Padang Ipoh is such a place that around it there are couple of historic and religious buildings.
This is also a good place to play sports.
Very nice place for a walk, especially at night, is Kinta Riverfront.
Just next to it is Dr. Seenivasagam Park, a perfect place for relaxation.
A little outside the city center is Perak Cave Temple.
This Chinese temple houses over 40 Buddha statues,
Including, the tallest and largest Buddha statue in Malaysia, standing almost 13 m high.
And from the top of the Rock, in which the temple was carved,
There is a nice view over both sides of the city.

Ipoh /ˈiːpoʊ/ is the capital city of Perak state, Malaysia. It is approximately 200 km (125 miles) north of Kuala Lumpur and 130 km (81 miles) south of Penang on the North-South Expressway.
Ipoh developed into one of Malaysia's main cities around the turn of the 19th century due to the booming tin mining industry. During the British colonial era, Ipoh was Malaysia's second city for administrative purposes. Architecturally, the city centre is characterised by Straits eclectic shop houses. There are several impressive historical buildings from the British Colonial era such as the Railway Station, the Town Hall and the Court House.

About Hotel Excelsior Ipoh
======================
Hotel Excelsior has been around since 1983. It was Ipoh’s first international hotel.
So, when we booked the hotel room, we were prepared to stay in a room that might be a little old and tired.
To our surprise, the room still looks modern, with the latest design and furnishings such as the Rain Shower.
The hotel is located at the heart of the city centre of Ipoh. As such, nearby are banks, business centres, food courts, hawker stalls, restaurants, and shopping malls. Even the local attractions are not too far away.

Why IPOH Should Be on Your List of Best Places to See in Malaysia - Part 1
#Ipoh #Malaysia #TravelGuide #Travel
The capital of Perak, Ipoh has grown significantly as a tourist destination. It offers a mixture of traditional and colonial charm, a series of cave temples and limestone cliffs.
Read a more detailed guide on my blog:
See Interesting pictures from Ipoh on Instagram and Facebook:
Suffice it to say, there are plenty of activities and sights that can keep visitors busy in the city.
If you are wondering what to do in Ipoh, here are some of the top things you shouldn’t miss out on:
Spelunking
If you want to do Ipoh right, you should definitely stop at the caves of Gua Tempering that will take you through winding, dark and cool caves stretching over 1.86 miles. This is a favorite for nature enthusiasts, spelunkers and those who just want to see some must-see places in the city. The beautiful stalactite and limestone formations are enhanced with electrical lighting that has been used to rig the caves. The cave tours are set up as a challenge to visitors, which means you should be prepared to crawl through the river, wriggle through small gaps and shimmy, jump and slide through formations.
Nature on display
Gunung Lang is a beautiful park that continues to explore the limestone caves as well as the mountains towering above. Water activities and eco-tourism are quite popular, thanks to the Park’s man-made waterfall, gorgeous lake and beautiful coastline. You can take a boat ride in the afternoon with an experienced pilot or just take a picnic lunch and sit on the grass.
Riverside
It is easy to miss the Kinta Riverfront Walk and the only way to experience it is to walk it. This is incredibly easy to do and a lot of fun as well because the trees are illuminated by beautiful lights and the water is hitting the walk’s edge. It is easy to take a stroll on the Riverwalk, but it is just as fun when you ride on the bike. After you have enjoyed the breeze and the lights, you can go to any of the various restaurants that can be found along the walk.
Colonial charm
The British had a very strong influence during the tin mining boom in Perak. When you visit Ipoh, you can enjoy the colonial legacy with stunning structures, such as the Birch Clock Tower Railway Station, Ipoh Town Hall and the Old Post Office.
With these activities, you will be able to take in the beauty that Ipoh has to offer to its tourists and locals.
