Malaya (Part 2) - Revisiting Places Seen On National Service During Malaya Campaign 1954-57
These 4 short videos are of my father retracing his footsteps through Malaya/Malaysia 50 years after he served there with the Royal Scots Fusiliers. During his travels he took photo`s of the graves of fallen comrades for families back home, tidied up graves and laid flowers on behalf of thier families, most of whom have never had the opportunity to visit their loved ones graves in person.
In this film you can see the Cameron Highlands, Ipoh Railway Station, Batu Gajah Cemetery (Gods Little Acre), Taiping Christian Cemetery (Karmunting Road).

DEATH MARCH North Borneo 1945 | The Ring Ladies

Operation Termite
RAF and RAAF Avro Lincoln bombers take off from Singapore as part of 'Operation Termite' a combined air ground operation against Communists Terrorist bases in the jungles of northern Malaya. The 2nd phase of the operation involved two hundred paratroopers of the British Special Air Service Regiment who were flown out of Kuala Lumpar by RAF transport aircraft. The Advanced Headquarters at Ipoh kept in touch with the progress of the operation by information radioed in by air controllers over the target area. Shows Lincolns of an unidentified RAF Squadron (code SX) in flight and bombing targets in the dense jungle. The SAS paratroopers drop was successfully conducted from 700 feet with only six men suffering minor injuries. Royal Navy helicopters flew in from bases in Ipoh carrying Ipohian trackers, aboriginal field teams and heavy radio equipment into landing zones cut into the jungle by the SAS. The operation resulted in three Communist Terrorists killed, thirty camps destroyed and large quantities of food, equipment and ammunition captured. The dead terrorists were lifted out by helicopter for identification at Ipoh.
