Whale Shark snorkel encounter in La Paz, Mexico
Island Cat charters took us on an amazing whale shark viewing just outside the bay at La Paz in the Sea of Cortez in 20ft waters. Visibility was limited due in part to the clouds of plankton, but we were able to get close to about 4 adolescent sharks in the 20-30 ft. range. Such awesome gentle giants these fish are. I highly recommend Island Cat Charters - Baja Mexico.

Sailing from Cabo to Puerto Vallarta | Damsel In Dior
My husband’s family is super in to sailing, so when we met I knew that I’d have to get over my motion sickness and strap on my boat shoes early on. Holo Kai {“Traveler by Sea”} has graced waters around the world. I’ve been so amazingly lucky to take trips on the coast of Capri, sail around the Greek Islands and explore areas in Martha’s Vineyard and more.
A couple of weeks ago, Grant and his Dad {plus a few others} sailed the boat down from Los Angeles to Cabo {on an 8 day transport trip} and Grant would not stop raving about how unique the experience was. It’s one thing to anchor or park in a harbor and quite another to do a “crossing.” A day after our planned trip to Cabo, Holo Kai was being moved from Cabo to Puerto Vallarta on 36 hour trip of non-stop sailing shore to shore. Grant’s Dad jokingly asked if we wanted to join and I think he was quite shocked that we agreed. I was equally shocked when Catt and her boyfriend Nick agreed to join us as well. Hey, why the heck not?
One of my main objectives for 2018 is to step outside of my comfort zone when it comes to travel. I have been so incredibly blessed with my blogging platform to travel to so many places, but my goal this year is to try and go off the beaten path more, even when I’m visiting “usual” places. This trip on Holo Kai was the perfect time and place to start this adventure. There were definitely long hours where I was able to relax, breath in the salty air and get lost in staring at the endless horizon. I was shocked by the lessons the sea can teach you at 4:30am with nothing but a full moon and constant motion of the deep blue waves slapping against the hull.
This trip was definitely one for the record books, which is why I carried my little Canon g7x to document a few funny and memorable moments.
