Istanbul (/ˌɪstaːnˈbul/;[3][4] Turkish: İstanbul [isˈtanbuɫ] ( listen)) is the largest city in Turkey, constituting the country's economic, cultural, and historical heart. Istanbul is a transcontinental city in Eurasia, with its commercial and historical centre lying on the European side and about a third of its population living on the Asian side of Eurasia.[5] With a population of 14.4 million, the city forms the largest urban agglomeration in Europe[d] as well as the largest in the Middle East, and the sixth-largest city proper in the world.[2][6] Istanbul's vast area of 5,343 square kilometers (2,063 sq mi) is coterminous with Istanbul Province, of which the city is the administrative capital.[c] Istanbul straddles the Bosphorus strait in northwestern Turkey, between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea.

This video features views of the Port of Istanbul, which is in Yenikapı, a neighborhood of Istanbul, Turkey, in the metropolitan district of Fatih on the European side of the Bosphorus and along the southern shore of the city's historically central peninsula.
The footage is taken from the cruise ship MSC Divina, and features views around Yenikapi as well as views over the Bosphorous to the Asian side, in the footage are a mixture of old and new buildings, including residential buildings and mosques, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia.
The footage also includes views of other maritime vessels including boats, freight ships, passenger and car ferries, tankers, the Coast Guard boat and cruise ships.
The footage ends with the MSC Divina leaving the port, and the views from it, these include the Bosphorous Bridge and views over both the European and Asian sides of the Bosphorous.

I started the Bosphorus Cruise Istanbul 2019 in Beşiktaş by taking a regular Bosphorus transport ferryboat. We moved from Beşiktaş to Sarıyer along the European Shore of the Bosphorus.
The Bosphorus is called in Turkish Istanbul Boğazı (Throat). It is a busy waterway and this Bosporus strait is connecting the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea. One side is Europe and on the other is Asia. Both shores are lined with beautiful Yalıs. A Yalı is a Bosphorus seafront mansion. I cruised along the European shore of the Bosporus. One of Istanbul's must do's is an Istanbul Bosphorus Trip.
There are many options to do a Istanbul Bosphorus Tour. You can do a private Bosphorus trip, a circle Bosphorus cruise or a full Bosphorus cruise. Another option is called Bosphorus by night tour, cruising and having a magical experience of the city by night.

Istanbul is the most strategically important city in the world. It's located on one of the busiest waterways in the world, the Bosporus straight, which links the Black Sea with the Mediterranean, and a land route between Europe and Asia.
Notes about the names of Istanbul:
During the Ottoman Empire, the people of the city would call it Istanbul, while the government still referred to the city as the Turkish variant of Constantinople. The city's official name was not changed to Istanbul until Turkey became a republic.

The World's BIGGEST Airport opens - New Istanbul Airport
The World's Biggest Airport - New Istanbul Airport is fully operational from 6th April 2019. All existing flight operations from current Ataturk Airport will be moved to the new Istanbul Airport.
Let's take a quick peek inside the new Istanbul Airport. The airport took just 42 months to build and represent over 10 billion Euros of investment. Once fully complete it will have capacity for 200 million passengers annually.

Join us for a first glimpse and tour of the brand new, lavish Istanbul airport, which has now replaced Istanbul Ataturk airport as the airport in Turkey for the processing of all commercial passenger flights, leaving the Istanbul Ataturk airport processing mainly only cargo flights.
The new Istanbul airport is situated on the European side of the city in the Arnavutkoy district of Istanbul and is the third international airport to be built in Istanbul. The first stage of the airport’s construction, which has now been completed, has seen the creation of the airport’s main terminal which is now officially the world’s largest airport building under a single roof, spread over a colossal area of a mind boggling 1.4 million square meters.
The airport is expected to handle and process 90 million passengers a year to start with in its current form but there are very ambitious plans to make the airport considerably larger – at the second stage of development, there are plans to add a third independent runway to the airport and the third stage will involve adding a second passenger terminal with a capacity for 60 million more passengers a year, bringing the airport’s capacity to 150 million people per annum and adding a fourth runway.
The final stage of development will involve bringing the number of runways to six and adding satellite terminals providing an extra 50 million passengers a year capacity, bringing the airport to its maximum and fully developed capacity of 200 million passengers a year.
Completion of the airport in its entirety is expected to be finished in 2027, at a cost of 10.2 billion euros. In the end, the airport will have four terminal buildings, interconnected with specially built railway access and will be spread over 3.2 million square meters, with a 6.5 million square meter apron consisting of aeroplane parking for 500 aircraft, VIP lounges, parking for 70,000 cars and even a state palace! It really is an extremely ambitious project and will provide a world-renowned airport for Turkish airlines and other airlines to travel to and from.
In this video, we meet Stephan Schwolgin and also Imbat Boyar, customer experience manager of the airport, for additional insights in to the world’s largest airport and see the 566 check in counters and 228 passport control points, all waiting for the flood of passengers to come. The airport is truly a colossus – it would take you eighteen minutes to walk from end to end of the main terminal building.
