JAPAN Trip 2010 - Part 6: Last Stop Kyoto!
This one covers the final few days of our trip, during which we took the bullet train to Kyoto and joined a one day tour care of JTB Sunrise. We had to take our luggage with us during morning rush hour, which made it a huge pain to get to the JR Tokaido Shinkansen, but once we got on it was a pretty smooth ride.
After checking into the Rihga Royal Hotel we caught the subway to downtown Kyoto (or to what we thought was downtown) to walk around and check out the scene. We ate our way up and down Nishiki-koji food market, did some shopping around Shijo dori, which was a long street with many department stores, then wandered over to Yasaka shrine.
At the shrine we found some flyers for a special two week event they were having at Chion-in temple. They opened up Chion-in at night and dressed it up with lights, which was pretty stunning Tickets were about $20.
The next day we joned up with JTB Sunrise Tours and did their Kyoto full day package. We went to Nijo Castle (no photography inside), Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), Kyoto Imperial Palace (no photography some areas), Kyoto Handicraft Center (lunch and souveneirs), Heian Jingu Shrine, Sanjusangendo Hall (no photography) and Kiyomizudera Temple (series of temples on the top of a hill with, amazing views overlooking Kyoto). Since we only had a day in Kyoto this seemed like the best option to see as much as we could, and JTB is highly recommended by a lot of people.
The next day we headed back to Tokyo for our last day in Japan. We spent the day shopping and eating, eventually ending up in this awesome seafood place around Shinjuku. It was one of the coolest places we ate at - we even had a grilled tuna head, which was one of their specialities and they only server a couple a day. It was a great way to finish off the trip.

Asia Travel VLOG #14: Mount Fuji
I go up Japan's iconic mountain.
I used JTB Sunrise tours for this one rather than plan and do everything myself. I have to say it was the right choice. It was a lot of fun to just sit back and being taken for a ride. Our tour guide, Mariko, was very knowledgeable and fun!

Japan Trip 日本之旅 - Day 2 [ Fujisan / Mountain Fuji
Day 2 in Japan we spend the whole day in Fujisan!
First we had our breakfast in our hotel and straight after that we went mountain Fuji. Took quite a long ride and we're finally there!
We started the hiking at the height of 2400m which is the 5th rest station if I'm not mistaken. All the way to the top took me almost 3 hour. My parents couldn't make it due to they're aged. My brother accompany them and I went up alone.
All the way up I see lots of great scenery and I'm at the same level of cloud! Took a lot of energy to go up and thanks to my family waiting me for almost 2 hours at the bottom of Fujisan.
I'll definitely recommend if you're a hiking lover!

JAPAN Trip 2010 - Part 5: Mt. Fuji, Hakone & Electric Bike Fun!
This one covers part 5 of our trip, which is days 7-8. We decided to join a JTB Sunrise 2 day tour that took us to Mt. Fuji and Hakone before catching the bullet train back to Tokyo.
We met up with our tour guide Mika and headed to Mt Fuji. It was about a 2 hour drive with a short stop for snacks on the way. After entering the park, we made it up to Station 5 on the mountain where it was about 5 degrees Celsius.
After enjoying the amazing views and tourist shops there the bus took us around the mountain to Hakone, where tons of hot springs are located around an active volcano. There we caught a boat cruise on Lake Ashinoko before catching the Mount Komagatake Ropeway in Hakone-en. From there we watched the sun set over Mt. Fuji and Hakone before settling down in our Hotel. Sorry, no video from the open air hot springs but that naked experience was something pretty unique also.
The next day we basically had free time until we had to catch our Shinkansen back to Tokyo, so we decided to rent electric bikes. It was awesome as we cruised around the lake, taking in the views and having some amazing noodles.

Our Japan Mount Fuji One Day Trip
DAY THREE IN TOKYO, JAPAN! Going on a MT. FUJI TOUR and riding a BULLET TRAIN!
Hello and welcome back to my 2018 Tokyo Trip I took with my family! Today was a very exciting day because we got to go on a Mt. Fuji tour! If you are interested in what tour my family took, here's the link to their website:
Highly recommend, an amazing tour, and tour guide!
We did the 1-Day Mt. Fuji & Hakone Tour Return by Shinkansen (Departs from Shibuya & Shinjuku with Lunch/without Lunch)
But as you can see from the video, we departed on a bus around 8 am. The scenery was beautiful once we left the city behind. I have a funny story actually. After driving an hour or so, we finally saw Mt. Fuji for the first time on the bus, everyone was very excited. Of course, I was on the wrong side of the bus, as you could see from the video, and I started to panic because the rest of the time we were on the bus, Mt. Fuji could only be seen from the other side of the bus, so a lot of my video clips I got were just horrible because people kept getting in my way, phones were everywhere, and the bus made my video quality very shaky. After a could hours of only seeing Mt. Fuji on the wrong side of the bus, I started to panic because we hadn't stopped yet to see Mt. Fuji from outside the bus and the only footage I was able to capture was super shaky. We did eventually stop for lunch around noon at that town I was telling you about (at 4:17-5:27). BUT when we got out I couldn't find Mt. Fuji anywhere! And we only had like 50 min to eat so we couldn't go very far. By the way, side note, lunch was our second stop so far on this tour, the first stop was an overlook at a mountain scenery (at 2:58) and we were right below Mt. Fuji at this point, so when looking at it, you had to look straight up and it didn't look like Mt. Fuji at all. So, by the time we stopped for lunch around noon, we've been on this tour for about four hours now and I still haven't gotten any good looks or shots of Mt. Fuji, I was starting to panic. I know, it sounds stupid, but I really wanted to see it in all its glory. Well, finally, like almost another hour in after we ate, the bus slowly went up a side of a mountain, and I could see Mt. Fuji peaking out from the other side, I was getting excited cause I was like this is it! This is where we get THE shot! And it was! The bus pulled out, all of us pilled out, some faster then others... and there was this beautiful lookout of Mt. Fuji. This is seen at 2:40.
Oh my gosh, I can't even describe how excited I was. We only stopped for about 30 min because we had to continue on so we wouldn't be late for the boat ride. But the overlook was astonishing! We were told we were very lucky that it was a clear, blue, sunny day because our tour guide said the day before was an overcast day and you couldn't see Mt. Fuji at all. So here's a tip if you ever go see Mt. Fuji, make sure the weather is good!
After making our lookout stop, our bus took us to Lake Ashi where we met up with a bunch of other tour groups and sailed across the lake to the Komagatake Ropeway. The ropeway over looked Lake Ashi, Mt Fuji, and Hakone National Park.
After spending about an hour or so at the Ropeway, you could make a choice. Either spend a little extra money and ride the bullet train back to Tokyo, or stay on the bus and ride back to Tokyo. To us, that choice was easy, take the BULLET TRAIN! Bullet trains are expensive, but since we are in Japan, we had to take it at least once. And let me tell you, it was something else.
You know, I was minding my own business, I took out my camera and started recording the platform we were at, take some cool shots of the railroad, you know, just recording random stuff. Well... All of a sudden, when I was at the guard rail overlooking the train tracks, (at 9:54) I could see a light coming from the tunnel, and to my surprise, it was a bullet train! I wan't even expecting a train to zoom by, but I was so lucky to already have my camera out and running because that thing goes FAST! My family and I were not expecting the blast of wind and sound the bullet train made when it zoomed past you. I can safely say, I was almost knocked off my feet. The sound it made as it zipped by you, the feel of the wind it made, it was so cool! Nothing I've ever seen before.
Oh! And riding the bullet train feels very smooth!
Side note: I do recommend tours, they are a great way to safely get around and not get lost. The only down side is that there is a time schedule, so you can't stay at one place too long, even if you wanted to.
That was our third day. I hope you guys enjoyed the video! And if you read all this, thank you! I appreciate you spending time reading what my day was like. I'm a very shy person and get embarrassed when I talk to the camera in public, so vlogging my trip is not an option for me, I'm sorry. I wish I had more confidence, but as of right now, I just hope you guys don't mind watching beautiful shots of Japan with music over it!
