Vallabhakshoni(Valluvanad) has a ancient historical past. Emperor Rajasekhara of 10th century has a sanskrit inscription in Vattiyur. in 960 AD his son Vallabha was a friend of Chola Rajaditya. Vallabhan later sacrificed all mundane pleasures and became Vattiyurkav Madhadhipathi. Another son of Rajasekhara was Rayiram Chathan who is one of the signatories in 1000AD jewish cu plate of Bhaskararavivarman. Valluvanad in those times consisted of present Valluvanad Taluk , major portions of Ernad Taluk , and old Ponani Taluk (at present trifurcated into 3 districts). Ottappalam and Mannarkad were part of it. Valluvakonathiri was the one who ascended the Nilapaduthara of Mamankam till 13th century. The eldest of Vallabhavansa is called Valluvakonathiri. The second eldest Vellalappad, the third Thacharalapad, fourth edatharalpad, fifth kolathur and sixth padinjarekkarapad. The branches of Valluvakonathiri who remained in Valluvanad after Tipu's times are only 4 .Mankada,Ayiranazi, kadannamanna, and Aripra who are known as Nedumpra rajavansa. Tharur ,Nedumbranad Nediyiruppu Eradi(ancestors of Zamorins) Kollanghot swarupam are also famous dynasties. Since very ancient period Dravidian practices of nature and totem worship spirit worship existed in Kerala. Only when Chandraguptamourya established Sravanabalagola in Karnataka (then Mooshaka kingdom) Jainism entered. There are 4 routes to Kerala from outside Sahya mountains. Dakshinakannada, Koorg, Palghat pass and Kanyakumari-Aruvamozhi churam. The different people with different professions were designated by varius names which British people mistook as caste system. 5 schools of Temple worship called Saktheyam,Souram, Vaishnavam, Ganapatyam and Saivam exist. Pudayur bhasha , Thanthrasamuchayam Seshasamuchayam and Parasuramakalpam are the major Thanthric texts follwed.
Palakkad
Palakkad pronunciation , previously known as Palakkattussery, is a large town and municipality in the state of Kerala in southern India, spread over an area of 26.60 km2 and is the administrative headquarters of the Palakkad District. Palakkad is the seventh most populous town in Kerala and lies near the Palghat Gap, Malayalam is the generally spoken language in Palakkad as it is the official language. The city is situated about 350 kilometres (217 mi) north of state capital Thiruvananthapuram and 54 kilometers south west of Coimbatore, and 66 km north east of Thrissur on the Salem-Kanyakumari National Highway NH 47.
Kerala would have an IIT in Palakkad under the 12th five-year plan. The land belonging to the Instrumentation Limited in Palakkad was finally chosen for the project. Since the IITs are set up by an act of Parliament, the whole process is the centre's prerogative, and the state government has only a limited role.

The greatness of Ganesha- Chaos in Mumbai streets
Madness of festivity prevails on Mumbai streets on the occassion of Ganesha Chaturthi. Ganesha Chaturthi is the Hindu festival celebrated on the birthday (rebirth) of the god Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Parvati.
It is believed that Lord Ganesh bestows his presence on earth for all his devotees during this festival. It is the day when Ganesha was born. Ganesha is widely worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune and traditionally invoked at the beginning of any new venture or at the start of travel. The festival, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi (festival of Ganesha) is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi (fourth day of the waxing moon period). The date usually falls between 19 August and 20 September. The festival lasts for 10 days, ending on Anant Chaturdashi (fourteenth day of the waxing moon period).
Today, the Ganesh Festival is not only a popular festival, it has become a very critical and important economic activity for Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. Many artists, industries, and businesses survive on this mega-event. Ganesh Festival also provides a stage for budding artists to present their art to the public. In Maharashtra, not only Hindus but many other religions also participate in the celebration like Muslims, Jains, Christian and others. In Mangalore, there is a belief that the eldest son of the home should be present during pooja.
In 1893, Lokmanya Tilak transformed the annual domestic festival into a large, well-organized public event. Tilak recognized the wide appeal of the deity Ganesha as the god for everybody, and popularized Ganesh Chaturthi as a national festival in order to bridge the gap between Brahmins and 'non-Brahmins' and find a context in which to build a new grassroots unity between them, and generate nationalistic fervour among people in Maharashtra against the British colonial rule. Tilak was the first to install large public images of Ganesh in pavilions, and also established the practice of submerging in rivers, sea, or other pools of water all public images of the deity on the tenth day after Ganesh Chaturthi.
