Одно из красивейших мест Ташкента, где можно отдохнуть на природе, насладиться густой зеленью деревьев и трав - это Японский сад. Он был построен по совместной инициативе Посольства Японии в Узбекистане и Министерства внешних экономических связей Республики Узбекистан в лучших традициях японской культуры.
В саду можно увидеть композиции из камней разных размеров. Японцы называют их Секитеи - философский сад камней, символизирующий величие и красоту природы. Если сосчитать камни, то Вы обнаружите, что их количество равно пятнадцати. Это число обозначает полнолуние.
Гордость японского сада - это чайный домик, который непременно стоит посетить всем гостям. Пройдите домик насквозь - и вы окажетесь на просторной открытой террасе, выходящей на небольшой пруд, где живут разные рыбки. Присев на краешек деревянного настила, можно предаться раздумьям или просто наслаждаться зрелищем красот природы.
Дополнительное красоту саду придают гранитные фонари, выполненные в японском стиле, и деревянные мостики, перекинутые через небольшие водоемы.
Богатством и разнообразием отличается не только растительный мир ташкентского «уголка Японии». Помимо уток и лебедей здесь можно встретить аистов.
Японский сад - это райское место, расположившееся в самом центре столицы, и ставшее одной из самых чарующих достопримечательностей Ташкента. Свидетельством тому служит особая любовь к японскому саду молодоженов - здесь получаются просто сказочные свадебные фотоснимки!
One of the most beautiful places in Tashkent, where you can relax in nature, to enjoy the thick greenery of trees and grasses is the Japanese Garden. It was built on the joint initiative of the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the best traditions of Japanese culture.
In the garden you can see compositions made of stones of different sizes. The Japanese call them Sekithei - the philosophical garden of stones, symbolizing the greatness and beauty of nature. If you count the stones, you will find that their number is fifteen. This number indicates the full moon.
The pride of the Japanese garden is a tea house, which is definitely worth a visit to all guests. Go through the house right through - and you will find yourself on a spacious outdoor terrace overlooking a small pond where different fish live. Sitting on the edge of the wooden flooring, you can indulge in meditation or simply enjoy the spectacle of the beauties of nature.
Additional beauty of the garden is attached to granite lanterns made in Japanese style, and wooden bridges, thrown over small ponds.
Richness and diversity are not unique to the flora of the Tashkent corner of Japan. In addition to ducks and swans, you can meet storks here.
The Japanese garden is a paradise place, located in the very center of the capital, and has become one of the most fascinating sights of Tashkent. Evidence of this is the special love for the Japanese garden of the newlyweds - here you get just fabulous wedding photos!

Uzbekistan Day 1: Tashkent
On Day 1 in Uzbekistan we went on an ultimate Uzbek street food tour in Tashkent, including the biggest bazaar in the city, and the most massive plov (rice pilau) cooking in Tashkent.
We had arrived at the airport in Tashkent at about 4 am in the morning, and at 9 am we were ready to start eating our way through the city.
First we met up with Bekruz and Akbar both from the Ministry of Tourism Uzbekistan (Bekruz is the one who invited me to Uzbekistan and arranged everything for us, so thank you Bekruz!), and Ravshan (check out his channel: a local food vlogger in Uzbekistan.
Two of the most important phrases you should know in Uzbek are:

Bread Bazaar, Tashkent - We started this ultimate street food tour at the bread bazaar in Tashkent, a market dedicated fully to bread, with a little fruit and other things mixed in. We bought some break, some kaymak, and some fruit and then went to a nearby restaurant where they laid everything on the table for us, along with tea. Uzbek breakfast was a great way to get started.
Chorsu Bazaar - The grandest bazaar in Tashkent is Chorus Bazaar, and it’s a perfect place to get a feel of Uzbek culture and food. We first stopped at the food court to try hanum, a type of dumpling filled with potato and somsa. Then we continued to the dome shaped iconic part of the bazaar, filled with fresh meat and spices. It’s one of the coolest market structures anywhere in the world.
Plov Center - We kind of had to rush out of Chorsu Bazaar because although they prepare 1,500 Kilos, seriously, of rice plov per day, it only takes 2 - 3 hours before they run out everyday. So we got there, already one of the monster swimming pool pans was finished, but they still had a few others going and serving. Plov is the national dish of Uzbekistan, a food that’s eaten on every and all occasions. For Tashkent plov, it’s pretty heavy on the meat at oil, with rice, chickpeas, and raisins. Also it included, qazi - horsemeat sausage which is a delicacy. It was incredibly delicious, and proper meal experience.
Total price - 100,000 UZS ($12.21)
Plov is love, remember that when you’re in Uzbekistan.
National Food Restaurant - After strolling around for a while in the afternoon, we continued to a National Food restaurant, a laid back family style restaurant that serves all things Uzbek food. Along with a number of dishes, the main dish I was most interested in was the naryn, thin slices of dough mixed with minced meat and horse. It was interesting, and quite good, as were the other dishes.
Total price - 110,000 UZS ($13.43)
Sultan Suleyman Restaurant - For dinner we went to a bit of a fancy trendy restaurant, and had another platter of food. This time, dough noodle like sheets topped with meat, horse sausage again, and green onions.
Total price - 122,000 UZS ($14.90)

Tashkent - The Capital of Uzbekistan
The main city of Uzbekistan is a huge metropolis with a population of over 3 million people. The city is lined with a grid of straight and wide streets and avenues, decorated with emerald green parks, gardens, fountains imbued with crystal strands...
This wonderful city is a real embodiment of the modern elegance that is inherent in many world capitals. At the same time it remains to be an oriental city. Tashkent has its own unique flavor. It combines medieval buildings as if descended from the pages of old oriental tales, elegant European architecture from the period of the Turkestan governor-generalship, standard concrete boxes of the Soviet era and, finally, glittering skyscrapers of glass and concrete (modern business centers and banks).
Tashkent, Uzbekistan -Tashkent Restaurants and Cafes
Tashkent cafes and restaurants present delicious national Uzbek as well as European, Middle Eastern and Russian cuisines.
Old part of the city is the center of traditional local cuisine in Tashkent. Between Kukeldash Madrassah and Chorsu bazaar you may find a great number of chaykhanas (café terrace with ayvans), cafes and eating houses, where you can snack a kebab, shaurma, Uzbek somsa and etc. Also you can try national dishes in family-run Uzbek houses. Close to the Yunus-Obod tennis court there is the huge Pilaf center (Osh Markazi), where you may taste delicious wedding Tashkent pilaf.
Tashkent restaurants amaze with European service level and food quality. You will be surprised with wide range of restaurants with Chinese, Italian, English, Japanese, Spanish and other cuisine. Whatever restaurant you choose for any lunch, dinner or meeting, you will enjoy not only tasty dishes but also the stylish interior, food presentation and perfect service.

“Green Canyon” resorts
In the zone of the Chatkal park - a mountain range in the Western Tien Shan, Tashkent region, Uzbekistan you will find a resort surrounded by the wild nature. The “Green Canyon” resort is located in the Tashkent province, Bostanlyak district, not far from the Brichmulla village, Ugam-Chatcal National Park.
Cottages
There are four cottages consisting of three floors on the territory of the resort. Each of them has rooms of “standard” and “de lux” categories. Uzbekistan Day 5: Tandoori Lamb and Full Tour of Ancient Bukhara, Uzbekistan!
From Samarkand, we drove to Bukhara, another ancient and well preserved city in Uzbekistan. What’s great about Bukhara is that it’s an entire ancient city that was important on the Silk Road that’s well preserved and still functioning.
Kolkhoznyy Rynok Bazaar - Ravshan ( who I’ve been traveling with in Uzbekistan is originally from Bukhara, so he was a great person to be with. We started in the morning, along with Bekruz for breakfast at the bazaar. We bought honey and kaymak then some very kind ladies at the bread market invited us to sit at their table. A perfect Uzbek breakfast to get the day started.
Great Minaret of the Kalon - Dating back to the 12th century, without a doubt, the Great Minaret of Kalon is a landmark in Bukhara. Even Genghis Khan, while in the process of destroying much of Bukhara, spared the minaret because of its vast beauty. It truly is spectacular.
Chor Bakr Restaurant - But we were very interested in a local Bukhara food speciality, tandoori lamb. So we drove out to Chor Bakr Restaurant, who prepare about 100 kg. of tandoori lamb for lunch. And luckily we arrived right as they were pulling it out of the oven!
Price per plate - 75,000 UZS ($9.08)
Magistral Plov Center - As I’ve learned and probably you have too, you can’t visit a city in Uzbekistan without having plov, the national dish and ultimate dish of Uzbekistan. For this version we had Bukhara plov, quite a bit more meaty than the Samarkand version, and loaded with sheep butt.
Bolo Hauz Mosque - Another beautiful sight in Bukhara is Bolo Hauz Mosque with its impressive wooden entrance area. And across the street from the mosque you’ll find Bolo Xauz Teahouse, a nice little tea house where we had a tea and snack and just relaxed for a minute. Lastly for our sightseeing of the day in Bukhara, we climbed to the top of The Ark Fortress, a huge fortified palace in Bukhara near the old city.
Labi Hovuz Restaurant - For dinner we ate at one of Bukhara’s most legendary restaurants, located in the old public square. The ambiance was great, and the hearty lamb and potato soup cooked in clay pots was delicious.
It was another wonderful day and learning experience in Uzbekistan.

築100年以上の民家で、ブドウ棚などのある中庭を囲んで家屋が建てられ、その外壁は路地に面している。こうした家屋は、ウズベク語でハウリとよばれる。ウズベキスタンの首都タシュケントでは、高層マンションに暮らす人も多いが、今でもハウリでのくらしも受け継がれている。
Built over 100 years ago, houses are built surrounding a courtyard such as vine shelves, and its outer wall faces the alley. These houses are called 'Howlies' in Uzbek. In Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan, many people live in high-rise condominiums, but life in Howelli is still inherited.
The National Museum of Ethnology, also called “Minpaku”, was opened in 1977 as a museum and research center. Its galleries display colorful cultural exhibits from nine world regions which include original artifacts as well as video, audio, and photographic materials. This museum is located on the other side of the park’s rose garden, across from the Japan Folk Crafts Museum.

Authentic UZBEKISTAN FOOD + ANCIENT SITES Tour | Samarkand, Uzbekistan
y adventures in Samarkand continued with a tour of the local ancient sites and some delicious, authentic Uzbekistan food. Come along with me as I explore Samarkand!
I started at Registan Square, which is bounded by the Ulugh Beg Madrasah, the Tilya-Kori Madrasah, and Sher-Dor Madrasah. Samarkand was the most important city along the Silk Road in Central Asia.
Registan is considered the heart of Samarkand. On its western side is Tilya-Kori Madrasah, which contains a mosque! The inside of its dome is gold-plated and painted in beautiful blue and gold. It’s covered in Arabic scripture from the Koran.
Next, we visited the Ulugh Beg Madrasah. On the second floor is an open-air terrace that’s also a hallway. From there, we had an awesome view of the courtyard below. We were near the students’ dormitories. The students came here already knowing the Koran and then chose what they wanted to study.
Then, we headed over to the Mausoleum of Amir Timur, a conquerer and king who founded the Timurid Empire in Central Asia. A 2-minute taxi ride there cost 10,000 som/$1.05 USD.
It costs 25,000 som/$2.63 USD for foreigners to enter the mausoleum, while Uzbeks pay 1,000 som/$0.10 USD. There was a beautiful courtyard and I could see an irrigation system. It didn’t look finished, or like part of it had been destroyed. There was a dome, two minarets, and the foundation of an old madrasah that was destroyed.
We headed to the tomb, where Amir Timur’s spiritual teacher is buried. Timur is also buried there along with the most important people in his life. There’s also an unknown tomb there. No one knows why it’s there! At the back of the tomb is the crypt, but only VIPs are allowed inside.
Next, we visited the Ulugh Beg Observatory at the Complex Museum of Mirzo Ulugbek. The observatory is where the Timurid astronomer Mirzo Ulugh Beg viewed the stars. In the museum are paintings of him and his colleagues, along with 15th-century astronomy instruments and models.
After another $1 USD ride, we arrived at the Shah-i-Zinda Necropolis. It’s made up of gorgeous temples, mausoleums, and other buildings from the 11th to 19th centuries.
There are 11 tombs in the necropolis in total! At the end is the mausoleum of the cousin of the prophet Muhammad!
We entered the Kusam Ibn Abbas Complex, which was built between the 11th and 13th centuries. It consists of a mosque, mausoleum, and prey room. His tomb was behind a sort of window. The mausoleum was so beautiful and colorful, and the tilework has lasted 7 centuries!
Next, it was time to go to Samarkand Restaurant for lunch! They served bread, a fritter, a pepper, eggplant with salad, cauliflower, a Greek-like salad, and stuffed zucchini. The zucchini was moist and crunchy on the outside.
The fritter felt like a vegetable omelet, while the pepper was refreshing and not spicy at all. The ham salad contained peas and potatoes, and there was a Greek-like salad of tomatoes, cottage cheese, and olives next to it.
The fried cauliflower was like the ultimate cauliflower! Next was a fluffy, crunchy, and airy Samarkand-style somsa, which was denser and rounder than others I’d had. There were tender meat and onions inside. Then, I had a soup called Nohot Shurva with chickpeas, carrots, potatoes, and a huge piece of beef! The chickpeas absorbed the broth and the beef was fresh, tender, and buttery!
Next, we had some local Bagizagan Select 2009 Merlot, which was very young, fresh, and fruity. The Samarkand plov was made with brown rice with carrots on top instead of throughout. It also contained raisins, chickpeas, and beef. I loved how fruity and sweet it was!

ウズベク人およびタジク人の民家の内部を再現している。右手前が中庭、左手前がテラス、左奥がイチカリとよばれる奥の部屋である。イチカリは家族が寝起きする空間で、家族以外の男性は立ち入らず、おもに女性が使用する。
It reproduces the inside of Uzbek and Tajik people's private houses. Right in front is courtyard. Terrace is on the left in front. There is a room called ichikari in the back left. This Ikkari is a space where families get up to sleep, and men other than families do not enter and they are mainly used by women.
