There are no campgrounds in Sebastopol, but it's on the way to the campgrounds in Guerneville, Duncan Mills and on the beaches, like at Bodega Bay. It's also near the KOA in Petaluma. (The KOA in Petaluma is very expensive, like $60-70 a night, and they pack you in like sardines. The campgrounds in Duncan Mills, like Casini Ranch, are much more scenic, like right up to the Redwoods, and closer to the beaches. Those are $50-$70 a night for RVs.) There are also some Sonoma county parks, like Lake Sonoma a little west of Healdsberg, that take RVs, and are about $35 a night.
Sebastopol is an eco friendly, socially conscious little town, saturated with kitchy and whimsical art, nice people, classic hippy style, great restraunts and organic and gourmet food, reasonably priced. They also have movies, lectures, music, and other entertainment on a regular basis. So if you are in Sonoma county, stop by Sebastopol, on Hwy 116 or Hwy12.

Bike Ride from Santa Rosa to Sebastopol (1-11-12)
A video I shot while riding down the the beautiful Joe Rodota Trail in Sonoma County, California. I realized I could cover up my mic a bit to avoid wind and the sound is much better from there on out. One hand on my IPhone and the other on my mic, chillin :)

Laguna Foundation Sebastopol California
Founded in 1989, the Laguna Foundation is a place-based organization focused on the Laguna de Santa Rosa, the second largest freshwater wetland in Northern California and one of Sonoma County's richest wildlife areas with over 200 species of birds along with many threatened and endangered species of plants and animals.
Our ultimate goal is to take what is now a very compromised ecosystem and to restore it to the healthy, biologically diverse system it once was. That means:
We plant thousands of trees each year to restore lost animal habitat
We perform the scientific research required protect wildlife and to inform our restoration activities
We study and, if possible, eradicate invasive non-native species threatening the Laguna
We monitor water quality to ensure it is healthy for humans, plants and animals
We take hundreds of children into the Laguna each year in an effort to inspire them to share our dedication to the Laguna and environmental stewardship.
In addition, to help the Laguna and County adapt to climate change we are leading the effort by bringing together other environmental scientists, organizations and government agencies to study and prepare for the predictions of climate change.

Homelessness Arrests at Santa Rosa City Council 5/1/2018
This is what happened while the official cameras went silent at their recess. At the instant of potential violence, the chamber cameras were turned off. This film was shot by people who came to document this bullshit, and was edited by somebody who sleeps on the Joe Rodota Trail. We are sad for our brothers and sisters on the streets, but we are proud and strong and certain, and occasionally joyful. Like when we get one of our own returned to us from jail, as you see at the end of this video.
Join us, please, to change the greedy, impatient face of Sonoma County homelessness in 2018. On Facebook, we are Community Action Coalition of Sonoma County, Homeless Action! of Sonoma County, and May 1st Coalition of Sonoma County.

Merry Edwards Winery - Sebastopol, California
Merry Edwards, who is well known as the Queen of Pinot, is one of California's first female winemakers. She began her career as a winemaker at Mount Eden Vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1974. She went on to become the founding winemaker at Matanzas Creek in 1977 and remained there until 1984. For the next decade, Merry consulted for numerous wineries, large and small, in Oregon and many diverse appellations of California. Along the way she has done Pinot Noir clonal research and responsible for the Mt Eden clone.
In 1997, she founded Merry Edwards Winery which specializes in Burgundian varietals with a focus on the unique terroir of the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast. Today Merry and her husband, Ken Coopersmith, now manage five estate vineyards: Coopersmith, Cresta d'Oro, Flax, Georganne and Meredith. They also maintain collaborative relationships with several other dedicated growers to supplement this estate production. In 2001, a barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc blend was added to the portfolio.
In 2008 Merry and Ken completed their state-of-the-art boutique winery facility on the site of Coopersmith Vineyard where visitors can receive a personal introduction to their wines in the very tiny tasting room. I really enjoy this small party tasting which allows for a lot of interaction with the very knowledgeable host.

The Barbary Coast Trail
The Barbary Coast Trail is marked with over 150 bronze medallions embedded into the sidewalk all over San Francisco. In following the trail, you pass some of the citys best known landmarks, and get introduced to all new ones. Join me on todays adventure as I set out to film all the medallions and take in the citys atmosphere. I filmed most of the medallions on the regular Trail. However there is a detour section which avoids a large staircase and is designated for adventurers who use a wheelchair. I only lost the trail once, just before getting to Pier 31, where the Wheelchair detour rejoins the Trail. The indicator points toward the Pier area near Alcatraz Landing, however after 40 minutes of searching I was unable to find a medallion in that area. I knew the Trail passed in front of Pier 39 so I headed that way and rejoined the Trail there. The Trail passes quite a few restaurants and things to see. The Trail does pass through many different many different areas of San Francisco, however I never felt unsafe. The Trail website claims its length is just under 4 miles and there are some steep hills. It is after all, San Francisco. This is a great day hike!

Natural wonders - Skull Rock (California)
Natural wonders - Skull Rock (California)
It began long ago when rain drops accumulated in tiny depressions and started to erode the granite. As more rock eroded, more water accumulated, leading to more erosion until, as time passed, two hollowed-out eye sockets formed and the rock began to resemble a skull. Located along the main east-west park road, Skull Rock is a favorite stop for park visitors. A parking spot is located just across the road from the rock.
