Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico - El Combate Beach
I visited the island back in July 2017 for a few days and took my drone. It's now been over a week days since Hurricane Maria and I haven't heard from my father and sisters. I've been meaning to put this up for awhile, but haven't had the chance till now. Eleven days ago hurricane Maria passed through the island and destroyed much. As of today, we have not had any communications with most people on the island. All cell towers were damaged or destroyed. They are without power, comms, water, and many other things we take for granted daily. We hope to hear from family and friends soon.

While staying at a beach house nearby I visited downtown Cabo Rojo for the first time and spent some time around the plaza while flying the drone. Later I returned to Combate Beach where I was staying and then visited Los Morrillos lighthouse which is very close to where we were staying. Where does Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico gets its name from? From the reddish color of its salt-flats and the reddish tint that characterizes the seaside cliffs along its southern coast. You can see the cliffs on this video. I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful town. There are so many more wonderful places like Buye Beach, Playa Sucia, , Boqueron Poblado and the beach there. I wish I could have recorded it all but time is never on my side. In short, a wonderful place.
