Junee is the place to be!
National Rugby League legend, current NSW State of Origin Coach Laurie Daley and well-known NRL commentator Ray Warren have donated their valuable time to feature in the new Junee tourism and lifestyle advertisement campaigns. The television advertisements have been perfectly timed with the State of Origin to promote Junee tourism and lifestyle.
The tourism advertisement showcases the wealth of tourist attractions that Junee has to offer. Visitors are invited 'to come, to see and enjoy our home town', NRL commentator, Ray Warren.
Junee has a lot to offer to visitors! Looming on top of the hill overlooking Junee, is the late Victorian Manor built in 1885 known as Monte Cristo Homestead, 'Australia's Most Haunted House.' Visitors flock to this historical wonder that is Junee, to escape reality and experience the past. They indulge in the marvel and magic of the famous Junee Licorice & Chocolate, experience the warmth of the antique themed bed and breakfast accommodation and take a walk along the renaissance style railway station dating back to the 1800's. Laurie and Ray invite you to come and explore their beloved hometown, Junee.
The Junee lifestyle advertisement promotes Junee as a desired place to live.
'This is the town I grew up in. I loved growing up here. There's so many things to do', NRL legend, Laurie Daley. With fantastic facilities, wide streetscapes, historical buildings and most importantly friendly people, Junee is the place to be!
Tilma Group, acting on behalf of Junee Shire Council and Cut Above Productions, created the television advertisements which have already gone viral on social media.
Like Ray and Laurie, Junee locals, 'are proud to call Junee home'.
Athenium Theatre, Junee, Australia
A work in progress the rejuvenation of the Athenium Theatre.
This video postcard of pictures and music is intended to give an overview of the present situation (January 2011) from an architectural and restoration perspective.
The Athenium is typical of the cinemas designed in the late 1920s by specialist cinema architects Kabberry & Chard. It clearly shows their trademark simplified neo classical style.
Over the years the Athenium has been altered many times along with some name changes to the 'Broadway Theatre' and later the 'Jadda Centre'. In the mid 1930s art deco and other decoration was added and years later the original lattice ceiling was covered and the proscenium removed entirely, but the basic form and many features of the original building are still in place.

OLD DUBBO GAOL 2019
Old Dubbo Gaol 2019
In February 2019 we visited Old Dubbo Gaol which is located in Macquarie street Dubbo New South Wales Australia.
The Dubbo Gaol was erected on the site of the original courthouse. It is believed to have been officially opened in 1887. Many of the buildings however were already in existence by this time. Many changes and new buildings followed. The surrounding wall also changed shape. Closed as a gaol in 1966, the complex re-opened as a tourist attraction in 1974.
In 2015 Old Dubbo Jail won a silver prize in the cultural tourism category of the 12th Travel Inland Tourism Awards. The Gaol was inducted into the Tourism Hall of Fame. In August 2016 the gaol was closed to allow extensive restoration and renovation of the site.
The Old Dubbo Gaol is a small, compact gaol located within the central business district of Dubbo. The enclosing wall is extensive and high. It is built of Dubbo red-brown bricks in English bond, with piers, laid in lime mortar. Above the north-eastern corner of the wall is a watchtower having a wide eaved roof of corrugated iron. Originally a catwalk extended from the watchtower. The structure inside the gaol wall include the main male cell block with 12 ordinary cells and specialised cells comprising two solitary confinement cells, a padded cell, a condemned cell; the female cell block comprising two cells, a bathroom and exercise yard; the infirmary and kitchen block, including a kitchen, infirmary, Library, bathroom, two store rooms, two offices; two remand yards adjacent to a debtors exercise yard and an early toilet block, laundry building with toilets and fenced exercise yards, sanitary disposal facility, toilet. The buildings are mainly sandstone with hipped corrugated iron roofs, while the entrance, watchtower and women's cell block are of brick. The infirmary and kitchen and the male exercise yard feature simple wooden brackets to the verandah posts. The gallows were re-erected

trip to Cooma
On 2nd March 2013 two visitors traveled from Sydney to Cooma Correctional Centre to visit a prisoner who is serving time in the low security correction centre. On arriving the visitors were informed that the prisoner had been moved early that morning to Goulburn Correctional Centre - a maximum/minimum security institution.
The visitors followed all the correct procedures in preparation to visit. Three contacts were made with the Correctional Centre to verify and confirm visitation to the prisoner.
What could the visitors make of this poor communication from the corrective system and was the prisoner in any danger.
Junee Car Show - Classic Restos - Series 24
Classic Restos are in Junee in the NSW Riverina, for the Junee Charity Show n Shine. These country towns are absolutely magnificent and so are the people, no matter what country town you travel to you'll find a bunch of people that are crazy about their cars. Don't think for one second that all of the good stuff is hiding in the cities. There are plenty of classic vehicles around these outback blocks that have served their purpose in the past and are now serving enthusiasts as preserved classics. The Junee Motor Club are behind this day with all profits off to the Junee Hospital.
