For the largest part, Jungfernstieg lies within the Hamburg quarter of Neustadt, though its eastern end also reaches into Hamburg-Altstadt. In total, Jungfernstieg stretches some 600 m along the southern, south-western shore of Lake Binnenalster and continues further to Gänsemarkt. On the lake-side, it is framed by Ballindamm to the east and Neuer Jungfernstieg to the west. On the built-up land-side, Jungfernstieg intersects with a number of streets: in Altstadt with Bergstraße, Plan and Reesendamm; the latter carries on along the shore of Kleine Alster (Little Alster) towards Rathausmarkt. At Reesendammbrücke, Jungfernstieg crosses the Alster into Neustadt. It goes past Neuer Wall and Große Bleichen, two of Hamburg's leading shopping streets. At the intersection with Neuer Jungfernstieg, Jungfernstieg forms a Y-junction with Colonnaden, another shopping street. See more:

This happened just a few meters from me! Just in front of S-Bahn Jungfernstieg! There is a knife attack! There is a baby and a mother stabbed. Please be careful if you're going to this area. Good news is suspect is heard withheld. (Post edited according to current news updates, Video was a few seconds after horrific incident). May God protect this city, Hamburg.

Jungfernstieg 4K 60 UHD - Hamburg - Walking Tour
A grand and gracious promenade on the banks of the Alster Lakes Jungfernstieg boasts shopping and sightseeing.

The Jungfernstieg is an urban promenade in Hamburg, Germany. It is the city's foremost boulevard.
The newly refurbished lake-side's terrace forms a public waterfront-plaza with views onto lake and the lake's fountain. The terrace is used for events throughout the year.
The entire length of the lake-side is occupied by a gently stepping, some 50 m deep terrace. Two pavilions are located on the terrace: the Alsterpavillion (a café), and a smaller pavilion, which functions as entry to a rapid transit station. The water's edge is used as the central landing pier for Hamburg's Alster ferries.
Though not one of Hamburg's typical shopping streets, Jungfernstieg features direct access to some of Hamburg's largest shopping malls and accommodates a number of banks, art galleries and high-end shops. More importantly, its history, the scenic setting on the Binnenalster and its pivot role for the inner city's commercial life and street grid, attribute it with a strong sense of place for people to relax, watch and meet.

Jungfernstieg mostly lies within the quarter of Neustadt; however at its easternmost it stretches as far as Hamburg-Altstadt. Places to see in ( Hamburg - Germany ) Jungfernstieg
It is the heart of the city centre for many locals and tourists: the Jungfernstieg - a diverse connection between the Inner Alster and the surrounding shops and attractions. For Hamburg residents, the historical importance of the promenade plays a major role: In the past, families came here on Sunday to walk and introduce their unmarried daughters ( Jungfern) - hence the name. Even today, the Jungfernstieg is very special: It is enjoyable to be right on the water - the Inner Alster, make a date at this central location and start shopping in the nearby department stores - especially the famous and traditional Alsterhaus but also small but refined shops.
After a break and refreshment in the Alsterpavillon, continue through the surrounding shopping areas and arcades. In the Hamburger Hof passage or the slightly further away Hanse-Viertel, shopping is an art: The large department stores and exquisite shops surpass one another with their exclusive selections. The day can then come to a delicious conclusion with an ice cream, and then it's back on the water: alternatively, an evening tour on the Alster steamers.
You will find a variety of treasures along Jungfernstieg: shoe and leather shops, jewellers or traditional buildings such as Streit's Kino and the Alsterhaus. At the level of the Alster Pavillon is the access to the Hamburger Hof arcade. Shopping becomes culture here: The large and small businesses excel with their almost exclusive offers.
Blume is definitely worth a visit as it is particularly known for imaginative and tasteful flower arrangements. Also interesting: What's New with the latest in design and technology. A particular gem is the new Alsterhaus: it combines tradition and modernity in an impressive way and, with its light-filled ambience, it is a forum for the presentation of world-renowned brands. Here you encounter the beautiful things in life where the aim is to offer customers something new and unusual.

Xmas Jungfernstieg - Walking Tour - Hamburg, Germany 2015 - 4k UHD
Between the Alster lake and the Rathaus (Town Hall) Christmas Market is this beautiful market - a stone's throw from the shopping mall Europapassage. The Christmaas Market is easy to reach of by either the S1 or S3 (Jungfernstieg stop) or the U-Bahn lines U1 and U2 (also Jungfernstieg stop).
A Christmas market on the Hamburg Jungfernstieg - how could it be otherwise than that this turned out a bit elitist? The Jungfernstieg is a highly traditional spot in this city of merchants: Gifts galore and often very fine indeed and rarely cheap. On the other hand, you can eat and drink very well with an acceptable price-performance level, while you are illuminated by heating mantles. However, seatings are rare. Though the Alex in the Alster Pavilion, which is located about halfway up the Christmas market is well provided with seating-accomodations.
The Christmas market Jungfernstieg is the white one
White is the dominant color (although it is common knowledge white is no color ok ok). Lots of lights, the architecture of the hotels and malls around and fancy boutiques dominate the picture in the direct vicinity of the Christmas Market at Jungfernstieg.
Especially the booths and tents of this market are made great and the displays are also noble - the market is framed by a beautiful environment. Solely on account of the outlook on the Alster and the Christmas tree on this kind of lake you should definitely make a trip here!

HAMBURG, EXPLORING the famous RED LIGHT DISTRICT, Germany
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go for a walk around Hamburg's world famous red light district on a warm Saturday autumn night.
Hamburg, a major port city in northern Germany, is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. It's crossed by hundreds of canals, and also contains large areas of parkland. Near its core, Inner Alster lake is dotted with boats and surrounded by cafes. The city's central Jungfernstieg boulevard connects the Neustadt (new town) with the Altstadt (old town), home to landmarks like 18th-century St. Michael’s Church.
Germany is a Western European country with a landscape of forests, rivers, mountain ranges and North Sea beaches. It has over 2 millennia of history. Berlin, its capital, is home to art and nightlife scenes, the Brandenburg Gate and many sites relating to WWII. Munich is known for its Oktoberfest and beer halls, including the 16th-century Hofbräuhaus. Frankfurt, with its skyscrapers, houses the European Central Bank.

Christmas Market in Jungfernstieg & Town Hall, Hamburg, Germany
Xmas Market Hamburg, Germany
On the front of the imposing City Hall in Hamburg, the probably most popular Christmas market in Hamburg is located.
ou want something to eat or drink, great buy, and sometimes unusual gifts such as wooden toys or antiques? You just want to breathe pure Christmas spirit and nostalgic atmosphere mixed with a crowd of people? Then the Christmas market at the Hamburg Town Hall (the Christmas market Rathausmarkt) - definitely is the place for you!
The orientation is easy. The individual lanes are arranged thematically (for instance the toy street or the alley of specialties german: Spezialitätengasse!). But you probably will have to push no matter what time of day something through the crowds. The Christmas market at the Hamburg Town Hall Square is probably the most popular and most visited of the city. Anyone who loves socializing, will find here exactly the right thing! If you want to come as a visitor but with a large group for mulled wine, you could get into some space constraints. However, you should have seen this beautifully designed Christmas Bazaar necessarily.
The entire clip was captured and edited with the Apple iPhone 5S.
