Malaysia Vlog: Glo's 1st Time in KL! Botanical Garden & KLCC!
** Please expand the description box for itinerary & music details**
April 4, 2015
instagram.com/timandglo
Glo caught an Air Asia red-eye flight from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur to meet up with Tim in Malaysia, where he spent the previous two days preparing for his Ironman 70.3 triathlon race on Sunday, April 5th! We stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel in Putrajaya, which is a planned city situated about halfway between Kuala Lumpur and the International Airport. Putrajaya serves as the federal and administrative center of Malaysia, and it is also the race venue of the annual Ironman 70.3 Malaysia triathlon race.
After reuniting at the airport, Glo caught up on some sleep at the hotel while Tim went to the race village to check his bike in. Glo only intended on napping for a half hour or so but slept for hours until she forced herself out of bed at noon! Lol. Because Sunday, April 5th would be dedicated to the half Ironman race, Saturday the 4th was our only day to explore Kuala Lumpur together. In addition, this was Glo's first visit to Malaysia, so we wanted to take advantage!
We took a taxi from the Shangri-la to the Putrajaya Light Rail Station and caught the highly efficient KLIA (Kuala Lumpr International Airport) transit train to Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station. Tickets cost 9.50 MYR (Malaysian Ringit) one way from Putrajaya to Kuala Lumpur, and the train ride itself is about 20 minutes.
We then transferred and took the metro to Pasar Seni Station to explore the nearby Lake Gardens (aka. Perdana Botanical Garden) via the National Mosque. The park is fantastic! It's a very lush, tropical park with clear pathways and a beautiful lake to sit by and take in the natural solace of the place! When it's not too hot outside, we image the park would be perfect for long bike rides and runs!
After spending about two hours wandering around the park we caught a taxi to the KWC Fashion Mall, which was not quite what we expected. It's Kuala Lumpur's first mall, and unfortunately they don't offer a variety of shops. However, we were able to sit down and have a snack at Old Town White Coffee, where we also waited out a typical tropical thundershower which lasted for about 15 minutes. Afterwards we made our way to the Suria KLCC mall, which is located right next to the famous Petronas Towers. We strolled about and window shopped, enjoying the coolness of the air conditioned environment. For dinner, we went to the mall's food court where Glo had a popular Malaysian dish called Asam Laksa, which is a fish based soup served with noodles while Tim had barbeque chicken rice (x2!!!). We highly recommend both! The food court is located on the fourth floor of Suria KLCC. ;)
After dinner we took a quick stroll outside to view the Petronas Towers at night. The towers were wonderfully lit up against the night sky! We had to cut our city tour short because Tim had to get back to Putrajaya to rest and sleep before his triathlon the next day!
Our visit to KL was rather short, but this preview has Glo wanting more! :) In particular, we've heard a lot of great things about Malacca as a day trip from KL and Langkawi when we have more time to venture outside the capital.
As always, thank you for watching!!
Happy travels! :D

KL HOP-ON HOP-OFF - Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
The best way to experience all of KL is via the KL Hop-On Hop-Off City Tour. You’ll get to see and hear all of KL through the semi-glass roof double-decker bus and (literally) hop on and off the bus, whenever you like. The bus runs on a half hourly schedule starting from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm. A pre-recorded commentary, in nine languages, of the history of KL and places of attractions is available in the bus.
The tour has 23 stops, which cover more than 40 attractions. The interval between buses is around 20 to 30 minutes.
