Kakum National Park Canopy Walk - Day Trip From Cape Coast - Ghana - Africa
I was so looking forward to this day, finally a day trip again! So we left late afternoon, stopped first at the Stingless Be Center nearby before we finally got to the Kakum National Park with its famous Canopy Walk.
At first, I must admit, I was a bit underwhelmed, but the further we got into the jungle the prettier and adventurous it got. So the overall verdict was ... LOVED IT! One advise I would like to give, stay over night! We didn't see any animals but to see those you even need to get further away from the park entrance. They even have elephants!
We're going to be writing soon about the Kakum National Park Canopy Walk on our Ghana Travel Blog, so stay tuned:

Ghana's Most Famous Park - Kakum National Park Canopy Walkaway in Cape Coast, Ghana: Enjoy!
Kakum National Park, located in the coastal environs of the Central Region of Ghana, covers an area of 375 square kilometres (145 sq mi). Established in 1931 as a reserve, it was gazetted as a national park only in 1992 after an initial survey of avifauna was conducted. The area is covered with tropical forest. The uniqueness of this park lies in the fact that it was established at the initiative of the local people and not by the State Department of wildlife who are responsible for wildlife preservation in Ghana. It is one of only 3 locations in Africa with a canopy walkway, which is 350 metres (1,150 ft) long and connects seven tree tops which provides access to the forest.

Hans Cottage Botel - Cape Coast, Ghana
This clip is of Hans Cottage Botel, which is located near Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana (on the road from Cape Coast to Kakum National Park, about half-way between these two points).
It is a resort-hotel, with a crocodile pond, and is popular with tourists. The bar/restaurant is in a double-storey building build over the banks of the pond, so you can sit & watch the crocodiles, as I did with my very lovely female friend, Annie, who is seen in the footage. A wedding was being held at Hans Cottage that day, and you can see the wedding party briefly at one stage, and a few American tourists are also seen looking at the crocodiles.

Kakum National Park Cape Coast
This forested parkland makes for a great day hike with fantastic views, especially from the wooden suspension bridges that soar a hundred feet overhead.

The best gift shop in Cape Coast Ghana at the Kakum National Park
Making Connections and chatting it up with sisters I met while shopping at the gift shop. I suggest you do your shopping after you do the canopy walk. While here met some Kool sisters from atlanta and New Orleans. This shop has some quality gems little overpriced but sometimes you just have to go for the gold. Enjoy and ask for Gifty tell her Sonika, The Positivity Queen sent you.

Ghana Vlog 3: Kakum National Park Canopy Walk ????
I went to Ghana for the Year of Return and had an amazing time! This Ghana vlog series will take you through my time in this amazing country. Next up, the Kakum National Park Canopy Walk. We took a 3.5 hr bus ride from Accra to the Elmina area where we spent two nights. First day we hit Kakum and I crossed ALL 7 canopies in this harrowing video and you get to come right along with me for most of it. A quick look at Coconut Grove Beach Resort as well! More Ghana travel vlogs from my trip are coming---stay tuned! My visit to the Elmina Slave Castle will be in my next vlog.
My entire trip was booked and curated by Gone 2 Ghana: I heard about this because some of my blogger friends went last year and I said YOLO and booked my travel. Gone 2 Ghana booked everything: my flights, hotel, group transportation, activities, food, etc. All I did was pay my money and show up...lol. There were parts of the trip I would tweak had I done it on my own, but since planning trips is not my favorite thing, this was a good option for me.
What is the Year of Return? 2019 marked 400 years since the first enslaved Africans were taken from West Africa to the US. There was a call for those descendants to return home in 2019. This is one of the reasons why you saw so many of your fave Black celebrities and influencers in Ghana this December.
