Prabalgadh fort is in Panvel and it is just beside Kalavantin Durg.
To reach there you need to catch bus from Panvel for Thakurwadi village. it is half an hour journey.
from base village it takes 3-3.5 hours to complete the trek. its moderate trek not so difficult.
one can do 2 treks in 2 days and can spend night on Prabalmanchi. tents and food facilities are there .
at a height of 2,300 feet in the Western Ghats. The fort built at the peak of a rocky plateau very close to Matheran has become a major tourist attraction. A trek to this place is perfect for those who enjoy adventure and the way to the fort is a dangerously steep climb. The steps leading up to the fort are cut into the rock of the hill. Reaching the fort is one of the toughest trekking challenges in Maharashtra and only if you are an experienced trekker should you go for this trek. This trek which commences from base village of Shedung, takes about 3 hours and you need to climb rock-cut stairs through a steep slope.

Kalavantin was a difficult experience for me as a new trekker. It requires a lot of patience to reach at the top. Monsoon or rainy climate not preferred. Not a trek for 1st timers or newbies.
Trek leve l:- Moderate to Difficult.
Good trekking shoes is a must.
Scarf for covering hair is a must.
Try carrying less weighing bag-packs.
Descend is difficult too

Kaldurg Fort is a hill Fort located near Waghoba Temple of Palghar District in Maharashtra, India. Kaldurg fort is part of Sahyadri Mountain range.
Kaldurg fort provides excellent view Kohoj fort, Surya river, Ashwa Fort. Kaldurg fort was used as watchtower to keep watch on surrounding hills and Arebian Sea.
Waghoba Temple is the base of Kaldurg Fort which is about 8km from Palghar railway station.

No history talks about this pinnacle of danger. No trekker wanna miss this rock climb. No other trekking place was taken care by government with such seriousness.
15km away from panvel is where both Kalvantin and Prabalgad are situated. At the gate you have to register yourself and pay an overhead. Do you know why you do it? Because couple of years back Kalavantin Durg turned to be a Death Valley of few enthusiastic trekkers. Government came to a conclusion to hire 50locals, train them and make them guides. So they get a job and we are safe. The path is good till the base and you have options to stay and enjoy delicious Maharashtra thali there. Then the route splits to Kalavantin and Prabalgad. Kalavantin is steep. Really steep. It's believed that, it was made for a princess named Kalvandin. The so far good path is now narrow and risky. After an hour you will reach the huge rock on top and now you have climb it with help of a rock. Many takes it as adventurous and many backs off. Afterall, its all about how much you njoy the self risk. But can assure, the view from top is always the best.

Kalavantin Durg Adventure with Trequila
Trequila Adventures presents a small video about out trek to Kalavantin Durg. Opposite Matheran and next to Prabalgad Fort, Kalavantin is a 500m high pinnacle on the northern edge of the Prabal plateau. Kalavantin Durg is good one day Trek near Pune/Mumbai.

Reaching Kalavantin:
- Drive till Shedung Phata, Panvel on old Pune Expressway
- Take a turn towards Thakurwadi Village from here
- Landmark Zoia Mountain Spa near Thakurwadi Village
You have villagers offering food & shelter upon request at Prabal Machi and can also carry your own lunch.
It's a good trek all year round but gets crowded during monsoons, so always try and reach the earliest.

BEST PLACE EVER | KALDURG | FORT | TREKKING | PALGHAR | MUMBAI | MAHARASHTRA
Kaldurg is a hill-fort which serves a good adventurous oneday trek for naturelovers,weekend travellers and wanderers around Mumbai.It is at a height of 1547 feet above sea level. It takes approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hrs to reach the top.One has to take a Manor tumtum rickshaw(8 seater) from palghar station westside.Get down at Waghoba devasthan temple.Here we are welcomed by the monkeys.
Waghoba temple is dedicated to a local deity and also shelters a Shivling in it.There is a handpump behind the temple from where one can see the stairs to the fort.These steps are roughly made up of stones and mud.We have to follow these steps untill we reach the top.At places where you see two ways.. just take the one which goes UPWARDS.There are two massive rock structures on the top..no fortification or walls as such.Only three water storage tanks which is the only sign of the fort .We get a great view of Palghar from here..especially of Surya river.
Though history doesn't offer much information about this fort..we can atleast assume its importance as it overlooks the routes towards Wada,Manor,Palghar,Mahim-kelva.And also it is situated amidts the network of forts like Asheri,Taldulwadi,Kohoj,Vikramgad(hillforts) and kelva,Shirgaon(seaforts).
If you are around rainy season you can have a great time under the waterfall just besides the hill.
Best season: winter,monsoon.avoid while its lightening.
Suggestion: carry food and ample of water.There is a single shop at the base where snacks and tea is available.Avoid trekking alone as there are few cases where locals have misled and robbed the trekkers.So avoid entertaining strangers.You may get a tumtum rickshaw or a S.t bus to the station from the Waghoba temple.Try to return before its dark.
