Vlog #6: Karlovy Vary Film Fest in the Czech Republic
This is actually my 2nd visit to the Czech Republic. The first time was in February of this year to Prague. Cold, but very nice, and not as many tourist. I met a girl there who was also a filmmaker on my first visit, and saw her again this time, but that's a story for another time.
The aforementioned girl told me about this film festival and so I arrived to check it out. The whole town, which is beautiful, is turned into one big film festival. You'll see as you watch that it was a bit of a challenge to navigate at first, but I figured it out and saw some great films. Including The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. Terry Gilliam is one of my favorite filmmakers and Don Quixote is one of my favorite stories (read it many times). Terry was on hand to introduce the film. I wasn't expecting that, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Jan Svankmajer's final film Insects was there too and I had a ticket, but didn't get to see it since something else came up. I was there for the world premiere with Jan Svankmajer in my February visit... and go to MEET HIM! That was a fantastic experience. Sadly, I was not yet doing this vlog. That one would've been great.

The Loket town and its castle is located between Marienbad and Carlsbad.
In this video you can see the Loket castle from the outside as well as its two courtyards from within its gates with a closer look at the castle tower.
