Karlstejn Castle, Czech Republic
Took a day trip to Karlstejn Castle. It's 40 mins- 1 hour from Prague train station, Hlavni Nadrazi. Tickets cost 90CZK each way so 180CZK round trip.
The train is comfortable with air conditioning. You can even take a bicycle for additional charge.
There's about 1 25 minute walk from the train station to the base of the castle. We walked really slow and weren't counting time.
There's other activities in the area, camping, biking, and rafting. We didn't do any of those.
All in all a good, easy trip and worth it due to distance form Prague.
Karlstejn, Czech Republic #35 Karlstejn Castle
During his travels through the Czech Republic, David stops in the town of Karlstein where he hoped to get a look at the historic Karlstein Castle. Charles the IV King of the Czech Republic and Holy Roman Emperor built the castle in 1348 with the intention of defense and safekeeping of holy relics. Unfortunately the castle was closed when David tried to visit but he still gives us a nice look at the surrounding area.

Easy day trip from Prague: KARLSTEJN castle!
Prague autumn is being scarily warm and sunny so we took advantage of it (before the planet self-combusts) and took a train to Srbsko from where we hiked up and down the local hills all the way to Karlstejn, a super cute castle which is ridiculously easy to get to from Prague.

Karlstejn Castle, Czech Republic Day Trip
We take a guided tour to the legendary Karlstejn Castle, the Czech Republic for a Day Trip. What we discovered totally blew our minds!
Karlstejn Castle was founded in 1348 by King Charles IV, who was then the Bohemian King and Holy Roman Emperor. The castle was used to protect the Imperial Crown Jewels and other sacred holy relics after construction was completed in 1365. Karlstejn castle dominates the skyline with a 60 meter high Great Tower and is equipped with massive fortifications.
This is a magnificent castle to visit, and it is less than an hour from the Czech capital, Prague! Whilst you can easily catch a train there, we decided to take a half day tour through GetYourGuide. It was cheap and thoroughly enjoyable. We rate this as one of the top things to do in Prague.

Hrad Karlštejn (Czech Republic) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Hrad Karlstejn in the Czech Republic.
Thirty kilometres southwest of Prague and surrounded by a dense forest landscape, is the monumental Gothic Karlštejn Fortress. It is the most famous castle in the Czech Republic and was built by Emperor Karl The Fourth for a single purpose: a secure place in which to store the crown jewels! The palace’s most important reception room is the Hall Of Ancestors next door to which there are paintings of both fictional and authentic ancestors of the Emperor. The higher-located St Mary's Tower was originally intended for the Empress but instead was used as a church and chapel. The Chapel Of St. Catherine was the emperor’s private chapel, a small, narrow room whose walls are covered with precious stones. On the second floor is the Chapel Of The Holy Cross, a unique room with splendid furnishings. It is also the world's largest portrait gallery of the Middle Ages as it contains the original panel paintings by Master Theodoric. The Karlštejn Fortress is the epitome of religious power and glory.

KARLSTEJN, CASTLE KARLSTEJN, HRAD KARLSTEJN, CZECH REPUBLIC
[1]., Karlštejn Castle (Czech: hrad Karlštejn; German: Burg Karlstein) is a large Gothic castle founded 1348 CE by Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor-elect and King of Bohemia. The castle served as a place for safekeeping the Imperial Regalia as well as the Bohemian/Czech crown jewels, holy relics, and other royal treasures. Located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Prague above the village of the same name, it is one of the most famous and most frequently visited castles in the Czech Republic.

Czech Republic Travel Attractions - Visit the Karlstejn Castle
Take a tour of Karlstejn Castle in Czech Republic -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Overlooking the Czech village of Karlštejn, mounted on a hilltop is a grand castle.
Karlstejn Castle is one of the grand features and jewels of Czech Republic, immensely popular worldwide.
An exquisite Gothic marvel, it was the vision of the King of Bohemia, Charles IV.
Founded in 1348, it took around 18 years to be constructed and finished only after the consecration of Chapel of the Holy Cross took place.
This illustrious castle played an imperative role in securing the Bohemian coronation jewels and Imperial Regalia among other important items.
Erected on a promontory, the current appearance of the castle in neo- Gothic style can be attributed to Josef Mocker.

Karlštejn Castle is a large Gothic castle founded 1348 by Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor-elect and King of Bohemia. The castle served as a place for safekeeping the Imperial Regalia as well as the Bohemian/Czech crown jewels, holy relics, and other royal treasures. Located about 30 kilometres southwest of Prague above the village of the same name, it is one of the most famous and most frequently visited castles in the Czech Republic. Founded in 1348, the construction works were directed by the later Karlštejn burgrave Vitus of Bítov, but there are no records of the builder himself. Construction was finished nearly twenty years later in 1365 when the heart of the treasury – the Chapel of the Holy Cross situated in the Great tower – was consecrated.
