Sunny weather - Nuuk, capital of Greenland
Sunny weather at Nuuk, capital of Greenland. Panorama with the city founder, Hans Egede, iconic statue.
Nuuk (Danish colonial name: Godthåb) is the capital and largest city of Greenland. It is the seat of government and by far the country's largest cultural and economic centre. Nuuk contains almost a third of Greenland's population (~17,000 inhabitants).
Nuuk is the Kalaallisut word for cape. It is so named because of its position at the end of Nuup Kangerlua, a massive fjord on the eastern shore of the Labrador Sea known for outstanding nature: waterfalls, sea-cliffs, whales and scattered icebergs. Its latitude, at 64°10' N, makes it the world's northernmost capital, located only a few kilometres farther north than the Icelandic capital Reykjavík.
Nuuk’s waterfront is dotted with brightly coloured houses against the backdrop of Sermitsiaq mountain. Greenland National Museum and Nuuk Art Museum have absolutely interesting displays. The Katuaq cultural center offers films, concerts and art. The modern building of the University of Greenland, Greenland's only university, deserve a visit as well.

Nuuk Drone Flight: Nuuk is the capital and largest city of Greenland. It is the seat of government and the countrys largest cultural and economic centre. The major cities closest to the capital are Iqaluit and St. Johns in Canada and Reykjavík in Iceland. Nuuk contains almost a third of Greenlands population and its tallest building. Nuuk is also the seat of government for the Sermersooq municipality. In January 2019, it had a population of 17,984. The city was founded in 1728 by the Dano-Norwegian governor Claus Paarss when he relocated Hans Egedes earlier Hope Colony (Haabets Koloni) to the mainland, and was named Godthåb (Good Hope). The city officially adopted its current name in 1979, although the name Godthåb remained in use in Danish. Nuuk is the Kalaallisut word for cape (Danish: næs). It is so named because of its position at the end of the Nuup Kangerlua fjord on the eastern shore of the Labrador Sea. Its latitude, at 64°10 N, makes it the worlds northernmost capital, only a few kilometres farther north than the Icelandic capital Reykjavík. // Nuuk, Greenlands capital, is a small city on the countrys southwest coast. Its large fjord system is known for waterfalls, humpback whales and icebergs. The waterfront is dotted with brightly colored houses against the backdrop of Sermitsiaq mountain. Greenland National Museum has mummies and Inuit skin boats, while the Nuuk Art Museum displays local works. The Katuaq cultural center offers films, concerts and art. [wikipedia // Google]

Flying to Greenland | Welcome to Kalaallit Nunaat | Glaciers and mountains || Sermitsiaq
#greenland #greenlandtravel #kalaallitnunaat #nuuk #nuukgreenland
The Toistaitoiset guides you to Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland). Dive into the realm of a fantastic travel destination unknown to many. You may find yourself wondering why you should explore this unique country. In this video you can get convinced about the whole thing as you zoom into and feel mighty travel views taken from Icelandair airplane, landing to the airstrip of the capital city Nuuk surrounded by the majestic Sermitsiaq mountain. Kalaallit Nunaat is like nothing else! It's Hotel Hans Egede and it's the Katuaq cultural centre. Hang around Nuuk city and Maximut bar. Rockin and partying and get lost in Nuuk bars.
More than 90% of the country's population are indigenous. There are no trees, but plenty of beauty induced by the people, sea, geology and water in various forms. The weather can be very variable and severe. Weather conditions often prevent air traffic and effectively cut Kalaallit Nunaat from the rest of the world. Kalaallit Nunaat's capital Nuuk is an interesting town with contrasts and excellent spots to visit. The history of this island country is colourful and its future can be very prosperous.
The video includes a musical background made by the Finnish hit music band The Toistaitoiset. The music background and the title of the video footage is Sikussat - Thin Ice Floes. Thank you - Kiitos - Qujanarujussuaq!

Greenland is one of the most amazing places in the world. We appreciate her beatiful nature, lovely people and way of life.
Greenland air. Brexit deal by Boris Johnson is criticized by Inspector Montalbano and Pete Townshend when they all visit Greenland and Boris abruptly sings about Kalaallit Nunaat in frenzy. Happiness is inserted in crevices surrounding this beautiful island country, P. Townshend says. He is flabbergasted by the sheer enjoyment he and the Kalaallit Nunaat people can feel. Visit also the Sermitsiaq, Nuuk museum and Katuaq cultural centre, you will not be disappointed, he adds vividly. Insp. Montalbano agrees a lot.

It has always been a dream of mine to visit Greenland, see its natural wonders and explore the things to do in Greenland. In September 2018 I finally got the chance and flew to the capital to explore the things to do in Nuuk before going on a tour to the Greenland Ice Cap where I also saw the spectacular Northern Lights.
I chose Nuuk as it is a great base for independent travelers for several tour options, hikes and sights in and around the capital while also offering fairly reasonable prices. You can use this video as a guide for your visit to Greenland and you are free to leave more tips and recommendations for things to do in Nuuk in the comment section below!

GRÖNLAND -- NUUK ADVENT 2013 UND WEIHNACHTSKONZERT GREENLAND - NUUK:
Heute ist erster Advent Sonntag, 01. Dezember 2013.
Today is the first Advent Sunday, 01 December 2013. Nuuk has since few months on her white dress. Greenland has, almost nine months Christmas spirit. But in December Nuuk has other ambitions. During Advent, the city streets are brightly lit. Everywhere there are fairy lights and colorful ornaments. In the windows are hanging stars and other figures from paper. In the churches and cultural center Katuaq and in public facilities concerts, exhibitions, Christmas parties and Christmas markets are organized. Santa Claus, who lives in the mountains near the NUUK, is slowly coming to town because he has a lot to do.
Walking into Nuuk: Part 4
a little walking tour around Nuuk. Walking past Hotel Nuuk and going towards Katuaq Cultural Center. Not a single fast food restaurant -- awesome!
Nuulliit archaeology 2015
Nuulliit has been one of the key sites to our understanding of the prehistory of Greenland ever since Erik Holtved’s excavations in the 1940s and Eigil Knuth’s excavations in the 1950s and onwards. The part of the site shown is where Holtved did his most of his excavations and not only produced pioneering Alaskan-style Inuit material (e.g. was is probably the Arctic’s oldest well-preserved gut-skin parkas and toboggan) that was unequalled for many years, but the Nuulliit site was also very important in establishing the basis of our archaeological understanding of the chronology of the prehistory of the eastern Arctic.
The film provides a great view to the landscape in which the site is situated, to the general state of the site (it slowly but steadily eroding into the Sea), and to where the 2015-excavation were done.

Walking into Nuuk: Part 6
A little walking tour around Nuuk. Leaving Katuaq and walking back down the main pedestrian thoroughfare. Wow, a huge sale at BabySam! Jon and Adam also discuss James Bonds-style travel adventures such breaking the hotel washing machine, wondering if they are being charged by the hour for cable television, and concerns that nobody stamped their passports when they came into Greenland. Will they be arrested?
