Got out for a mid-day paddle on the Northwest Arm in Halifax with my friends. Brought some Java Blend coffee out in a thermos and it sure was a nice contrast against the freezing rain.

Sunrise Kayaking on the northwest arm in, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Thanks again to Louis Martin for the awesome early birthday present, bringing me out on the water for an amazing sunrise.
It's amazing the adventure you can find in your back yard if you just get up a little bit earlier and go chase after it.
Always nice to be reminded what an incredible place we live in, and to enjoy it with awesome friends.
Could not have asked for a more beautiful morning, and it made for a really fun and really easy edit!
ENJOY!

Kayaking Bay of Fundy Transcript:
Well, we're here with Nova Shores
Adventures on a two-day kayaking trip
it's been really great here on the Bay
of Fundy because we've got to see the
landscape at both low tide and high time
which is drastically different
We've landed here at Seal Cove and we've
seen the weather change from beautiful
sunny days to foggy days to beautiful
morning's like this. It's a really great
way to take in the beauty of the Bay of
Fundy
wow that was a really cool experience to
kayak on the Bay of Fundy we went out to
the Three Sisters and the Sun magically
came out and lit them up for us then as we
were paddling back the fog came and its
really ominous very cool to just see it
rolling in almost we think that ghost ship is just around the corner
You can go for a hike after kayak as well
Cheers to a good day, Cheers
We're camping on the Bay of Fundy
We see some seals, be very quiet, be very quiet
Well there you have it the Three sisters
behind me here at low tide is a very
cool time to be here you can see the
base of them.
This is an excellent view of the Three Sisters and a Pillar!
I don't know why they don't call it the Four Sisters, it's the Three Sisters
The Three Sisters are a magnificent rock
formation on the Bay of Fundy.
Local Mi'kmaq legend states that powerful god Glooscap
Turned his three sisters into stone when he
left the land and bade them to remain until his return
Behind me is Elephant Rock. It really looks like an elephant
When it's high tide you
can actually kayak right through that
so we will be back.
So there's the elephant that we walked to earlier
now you can paddle through it. Incredible
Just shows the power of these tides.
The Bay of Fundy has the world's highest tides
moving more than 100 billion tons of
water every six hours and 13 minutes
that's more flow than all the world's
freshwater rivers combined.
The tides range 35 to 55 feet
Every Day
Halifax Seaport & Bay of Fundy (Burncoathead Park), Nova Scotia (171)
There are lots of amazing sights, sounds and flavors at Halifax's Seaport.
We were here on the weekend and the Farmer's Market was in full swing, complete with local musicians. There were a couple of cruise ships in port. Nothing the port couldn't handle. It is a very large port with many areas and a long boardwalk. You can swing in a hammock, taste the local treats, or just walk around and people watch.
We were lucky enough to be there when the Bluenose II was in port. What a treat! This was a definite highlight of our visit to Nova Scotia. It is a source of Canadian and Maritime pride, and a fun boat to tour on top of it.
If you are in Halifax, a visit to the port is a fun and family friendly activity.
Burncoat Head Park was a really cool experience. It's hard to believe that 160 billion tons of water move through the Bay of Fundy twice daily. To put it into perspective, that is more than the combined flow of all the world's freshwater rivers.
Can you imagine the amount of clean energy this can harness day after day? The Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy (FORCE) ( is currently researching this tidal energy.
Walking on the seabed was interesting and awe inspiring. If you are in the area, this is a must see. It doesn't cost a thing to visit, and is a powerful example of the Bay of Fundy's amazing tidal shifts.

Halifax to Keinbaum
The Canadian Sprint Canoe/ Kayak team flew across the Atlantic two weeks before the 2019 ICF Sprint World Championships. We had the opportunity to train at the Keinbaum Training Centre in Germany... WHAT A TREAT! This training centre is nothing shy of perfect for a focused and deliberate training camp to prepare for an important competition! And the bircher muesli was impeccable.
