Paddling with Grass on the Chassahowitzka River
We rented kayaks from Kayak Karavan near Homosassa, FL for a week and travelled up and down the Chassahowitzka River.

2011 March 13 Part-2 - Chassahowitzka River in Homosassa Florida
Awesome trip on the Chassahowitzka River with my Brother David and Niece Elisha. We encountered a Dolphin playing with his food and 3 manatee. Part 1 is from my Canon T1i and Ikelite Housing. Part 2 is from my son Luke who was using a recently ebay aquired Sanyo Xacti Video Camera. I did not get any footage of the Dolphin as we encountered him upon entry to the River, got a great view of him swimming with a Sheepshead in his mouth. Then a motor boat harassed him down river where my son Luke caught up to him in David's Kayak. There were head springs with holes that you could swim in one hole and come out another. Really Cool. If you never visited this River and like to Canoe and Kayak, this is a must see.
Weeki Wachee, Homosassa, and St. Pete Beach
In this video we visit historic Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and its legendary Mermaid Show. Also, Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, and we end up at a bucket list destination called Fort De Soto Park in Saint Petersburg Beach.

In this weeks video and blog post we are going back to the Everglades and Big Cypress National Preserve to do a couple of things we haven't done before.
We are staying at Monument Lake which is one of the few places this time of the year with any site available. We’re visiting in February at the peak of snowbird season.
In South Florida, besides alligators, pythons, panthers, great blue herons, and anhingas, the most abundant member of the animal kingdom is the mosquito. The mosquitos are relentless on the Florida trail. I was under the impression that the winter was the non mosquito season. I was obviously greatly misinformed. It has also been an unusually hot and humid winter.
