Jungle Cruise at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park - Old Florida Attraction & Wild Animal Zoo
Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is home to Florida's original Jungle Cruise and has an original underwater observatory. It's Jubgle Cruise 2019 but This old Florida roadside attraction is also a filming location for some Walt Disney Films. This beautiful state park and wildlife sanctuary is home to many animals. Manatees, Alligators, Bald Eagles, Fish, and a 59 year old hippo named Lu are among some of the many animals you will see here at this Old Florida wildlife Zoo. Let's take another outdoor adventure in what I like to call Old and vintage Florida. There is so much to see and so much ahead.

Cedar Key Florida Travel - YouTube
This place is awesome if you are looking for a quiet, laid back vacation to relax, enjoy nature and just take it easy in the beauty of the Florida Gulf Coast. Fishing, crabbing, kayaking and nature watching are just some of the things to keep your days busy or just read a book, whatever.
Cindy and I loved this little piece of paradise.
Cedar Key is a city in Levy County, Florida, United States. The population was 790 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city had a population of 958. The Cedar Keys are a cluster of islands near the mainland. Most of the developed area of the city has been on Way Key since the end of the 19th century. The Cedar Keys are named for the Eastern Red Cedar, Juniperus virginiana, once abundant in the area.
While evidence suggests human occupation as far back as 500 BC, the first maps of the area date to 1542, when it was labeled Las Islas Sabines by a Spanish cartographer. An archaeological dig at Shell Mound, 9 miles (14 km) north of Cedar Key, found artifacts dating back to 500 BC in the top 10 feet (3.0 m) of the 28-foot-tall (8.5 m) mound. The only ancient burial found in Cedar Key was a 2,000-year-old skeleton found in 1999.
Arrow heads and spear points dating from the Paleo period (12,000 years old) were collected by Cedar Key historian St. Clair Whitman and are displayed at the Cedar Key Museum State Park.
The Cedar Keys were used by Seminole Indians, by the Spanish as a watering stop for ships returning to Spain from Mexico, and by pirates, such as Jean Lafitte and Captain Kidd.
Best Place To See Manatees - In All Of Florida!
ORANGE CITY, FL (Florida-TV) One of the best places to see manatees in all of Florida. Florida TV takes an inside look as to why manatees flock here each year. And why people travel from around the world just to view these amazing creatures.
We tag along with the “Save The Manatee” experts that show us how they track, save and count these sea cows. Save the Manatee Club was founded in 1981 by Bob Graham, former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator, and singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett. The Club was started with the mission to protect manatees and their habitat. Today, Save the Manatee Club is the world’s leading manatee conservation organization.
BLUE SPRING STATE PARK
Conservation measures can produce astounding results. In 1970, two years before Blue Spring State Park was established, researchers tracked 14 manatees in the spring run. By 2005, after years of park improvements and manatee protection efforts, wintering manatee numbers exceeded 200. By 2018, that number skyrocketed to a record 485.
Besides sea cows, fish abound in the spring run, and these attract a variety of wading birds, ospreys, eagles and kingfishers. To see the park’s wonders, one can hike along the spring run or on the 4.5-mile Pine Island Trail. One can also launch a canoe or kayak, rent one at the park or take a guided river boat cruise.
Blue Spring State Park is a state park located west of Orange City, Florida in the United States. The park is a popular tourist destination; available activities include canoeing, SCUBA diving, kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking, wildlife watching, and swimming.
Please call Blue Spring State Park at 386-775-3663 before you visit to get the latest manatee count.
Rock City: I Can See Seven States, then Nashville - Traveling Robert
Great American Road Trip 2016 Part 2
On this week's video we visit a famous roadside attraction near Chattanooga, Tennessee called Rock City. Rock city is located on the Georgia side of the border, on top of the Lookout Mountain Ridge.
Rock City became a tourist attraction back in the early 1930s, at the site of a community called Fairyland, founded by one Garnet Carter and his wife Frieda. These rock formations happened to be inside the Fairyland community, and it was Frieda’s idea to develop this part of the property into a great rock garden, with all kinds of plants, trails around the rocks, and statues of gnomes and other fairytale characters imported from Germany. They claim that you can see seven states from the top of the mountain: Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. While on a clear day you can see the Smoky Mountains, that's still the Tennessee side. I don't have hard evidence of this but I have read that Kentucky, Virginia, and South Carolina are below the horizon, so the only way you could see them is if the Earth was flat.
In Rock City we also enjoy the music of Matt Downer - Old Time Traveler, an Alabama native and Chattanooga resident. He plays the fiddle, the banjo, and the guitar, and he has dedicated his career to the preservation of traditional music. He has studied the repertoire and techniques of many of the elder Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia musicians, so he is the real deal. What a treat it is to listen to his music.
As we continue towards Nashville we run into some trouble climbing the Cumberland Plateau , also known Monteagle Mountain. The car started overheating on the long 5% grade. While technically not a mountain, Monteagle got it's popular culture name due to a Johnny Cash song describing this treacherous portion of the road.

The Plantation on Crystal River, Florida
This episode of Florida's Best Weekend Getaways takes us to one of my favorite places, Crystal River, Florida. Crystal River is a natural spring-fed river that is amazingly clear with turquoise water.
The river is a constant 72 degrees year round due to the 5 million gallons of spring water pumped into out of the ground every day. The constant temperature is what the Manatee love so it is no surprise that it hosts one of the largest Manatee population in the world!
The Plantation on Crystal River is an old southern-style plantation that sits beautifully right on the river and also has a championship golf course as well. They have very nice rooms as well as golf villas that sleep 6. The resort also has an excellent restaurant with one of the best Sunday brunches I've been to.
Along with all of this the spa is amazing!
Checkout their website and you'll see why I love it so much and wanted to feature it for the series.
I highly recommend the Plantation on Crystal River for a weekend getaway! Would I steer you wrong? I don't think so!
xoxo

Travel Trends 2011 -2012 Winter - Canada
Booking packaged travel, (all inclusive vacations) is easy...
The Kelowna International Airport was host to a travel event on October 29. We were there to gauge the travelers. Mostly older people were milling about gathering information from travel agencies, air lines and tourism boards.
I wasn't expecting younger people, or more precisely anyone who is computer literate .
Google says two-thirds of businesses now plan their travel using search engines, with smart phone bookings rising 69% just in 2010.
He added that 69% of businesses (compared to 63% of consumers) plan travel by searching the internet, visiting an average of 22 sites before deciding on a destination.
Online search engines continue to dominate the travel industry with two out of three leisure travellers (66%) and 59% of business travellers using them to research travel, according to a Travelport report .
Google recently reported that 64% of leisure travellers and 65% of business travellers use search engines to begin their travel planning, exemplifying just how key search marketing is. (tnooz - talking travel tech, September 2010)
The world of travel planning and booking has changed with the internet, we research destinations extensively along with consumer generated reviews which I trust more than commercial marketing. We find booking tickets, including packaged vacations a 'no-brainier' and easy.
We have favorite sites that we use for comparison shopping just as I wouldn't buy something in the first store I go to and then since ALL internet sites and travel agencies handle the same product, we make reservations based on price.
Florida Travel: Visit St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge
Just to the west of St. George Island, near Apalachicola, is the St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge. This 12,490-acre barrier island is only accessible by boat, but its remoteness helps maintain the island’s pristine state. Learn more here:
