5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in St. Augustine
On Florida's northeast coast, St. Augustine is the nation's oldest permanently occupied European settlement, founded by the Spanish in 1565. Its name is forever associated with the Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon and his fabled search for the Fountain of Youth. Tourists today can visit attractions from various periods of the city's history, from archaeological digs that have unearthed Native American artifacts to a well-preserved Spanish fort to the museum collections displayed in a late 19th-century grand hotel. Throughout these historic sites, costumed interpreters bring their eras to life with demonstrations of everything from colonial cooking to musket firing and early surgery. These make St. Augustine especially appealing to families with children.

St Augustine, Florida USA - Exploring America's Oldest City
Exploring the beautiful city St Augustine in Florida, USA.
St Augustine was founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers which makes it the oldest continuously inhabited settlement of continental United States.
St Augustine is easy to get to from Orlando and even though it’s only two hours away the relaxed atmosphere and its rich history is a million miles away from crowds and queues of the theme parks.
During our stay in St Augustine we stayed at the pretty water front Bayfront Marin House Inn which overlooks Matanzas Bay in the historic centre and is within easy walking distance of the city’s historic sites, museums, art galleries and restaurants.
Take the Red Train Trolley to get to know the layout of the historic city centre. You must visit the Castillo de San Marcos, the first masonry fort in the Americas, the Fountain of Youth, Flagler College (formerly Hotel Flagler's Ponce de Leon Hotel) and the St Augustine Lighthouse.

Exploring St. Augustine, Florida, America's oldest city!
This video shows why you need to visit St. Augustine and places and things you can experience that aren't necessarily in the travel guides. I spent Veteran's Day weekend, three days, in the oldest city in America. Myself and Kyle Cummings long-boarded, flew drones (GoPro Karma and DJI Mavic Pro), kayaked, explored an abandoned sailboat, wandered around an inhabited island, check out the St. Augustine Lighthouse and St. Augustine Beach, had a history lesson at the Castillo de San Marcos, and drove a 4x4 Nissan Frontier on the beach!
The footage was filmed using a Sony A6000, Canon EOS Rebel, GoPro HD Hero 5 Black, GoPro Karma, DJI Mavic Pro, and DJI Osmo.
