Florida City Tour
Florida City Tour
Florida (Spanish for land of flowers) is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. It is bordered to the west by the Gulf of Mexico, to the north by Alabama and Georgia, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the south by the Straits of Florida and Cuba. Florida is the 22nd-most extensive, the 3rd-most populous, and the 8th-most densely populated of the U.S. states. Jacksonville is the most populous municipality in the state and is the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. The Miami metropolitan area is Florida's most populous urban area. The city of Tallahassee is the state capital.
A peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida, it has the longest coastline in the contiguous United States, approximately 1,350 miles (2,170 km), and is the only state that borders both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Much of the state is at or near sea level and is characterized by sedimentary soil. The climate varies from subtropical in the north to tropical in the south.[10] The American alligator, American crocodile, Florida panther, and manatee can be found in the Everglades National Park.
Since the first European contact was made in 1513 by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León – who named it La Florida (land of flowers) upon landing there in the Easter season, Pascua Florida – Florida was a challenge for the European colonial powers before it gained statehood in the United States in 1845. It was a principal location of the Seminole Wars against the Native Americans, and racial segregation after the American Civil War.
Today, Florida is distinctive for its large Cuban expatriate community and high population growth, as well as for its increasing environmental issues. The state's economy relies mainly on tourism, agriculture, and transportation, which developed in the late 19th century. Florida is also renowned for amusement parks, orange crops, the Kennedy Space Center, and as a popular destination for retirees.
Florida culture is a reflection of influences and multiple inheritance; Native American, European American, Hispanic and Latino, and African American heritages can be found in the architecture and cuisine. Florida has attracted many writers such as Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams, and continues to attract celebrities and athletes. It is internationally known for golf, tennis, auto racing and water sports.

Scenic US 301 through Florida: Micanopy, Ocala, Wildwood
Scenic US 301 provides a great alternative to Interstate 75 through central Florida. I took this route on Scenic US 301 on my way back to Tampa, in search of some antique stores. There are plenty of antique stores, and a lot of great rolling farmland along Scenic US 301.
This drive begins on Interstate 75 on the outskirts of Gainesville. I exited the interstate at Micanopy, checked out this quaint small town, then joined US 441 for the drive down to Scenic US 301, which took me on to Ocala and Wildwood, Florida.
I made this trip in October 2018.

Cedar Key Florida Travel - YouTube
This place is awesome if you are looking for a quiet, laid back vacation to relax, enjoy nature and just take it easy in the beauty of the Florida Gulf Coast. Fishing, crabbing, kayaking and nature watching are just some of the things to keep your days busy or just read a book, whatever.
Cindy and I loved this little piece of paradise.
Cedar Key is a city in Levy County, Florida, United States. The population was 790 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city had a population of 958. The Cedar Keys are a cluster of islands near the mainland. Most of the developed area of the city has been on Way Key since the end of the 19th century. The Cedar Keys are named for the Eastern Red Cedar, Juniperus virginiana, once abundant in the area.
While evidence suggests human occupation as far back as 500 BC, the first maps of the area date to 1542, when it was labeled Las Islas Sabines by a Spanish cartographer. An archaeological dig at Shell Mound, 9 miles (14 km) north of Cedar Key, found artifacts dating back to 500 BC in the top 10 feet (3.0 m) of the 28-foot-tall (8.5 m) mound. The only ancient burial found in Cedar Key was a 2,000-year-old skeleton found in 1999.
Arrow heads and spear points dating from the Paleo period (12,000 years old) were collected by Cedar Key historian St. Clair Whitman and are displayed at the Cedar Key Museum State Park.
The Cedar Keys were used by Seminole Indians, by the Spanish as a watering stop for ships returning to Spain from Mexico, and by pirates, such as Jean Lafitte and Captain Kidd.
Day at Winter Park, Florida
Day at Winter Park, Florida. September 13, 2018.
Winter Park is a city near Orlando, Florida. The population was 27,852 at the 2010 United States Census. Winter Park was founded as a resort community by northern business magnates in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its main street includes civic buildings, retail, art galleries, a private liberal arts college (Rollins College), museums, a park, a train station, a golf course country club, a historic cemetery, and a beach and boat launch. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art showcases glass art by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Overlooking Lake Osceola, the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens displays works by the notable Czech-American artist. By Lake Virginia, Cornell Fine Arts Museum shows antiquities and contemporary works.
Lazy boat rides, craft cocktails and a diverse range of galleries are abundant in this manicured town of eight square miles, which manages to make even the Amtrak train seem quaint, stopping as it does in the middle of the town's mini-Central Park.

Places to see in ( Davenport - USA )
Davenport is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,888 at the 2010 census. While the city of Davenport itself is very small, the area north of the city close to Interstate 4 and US 27 is experiencing explosive growth. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The area around Davenport in northeast Polk County used to be centered on the remote Circus World amusement park. It was redeveloped in 1987 into Boardwalk and Baseball and included a minor league baseball park that would attract spring training and minor league baseball teams for the Kansas City Royals, earning the area the moniker Baseball City. The amusement park failed in 1990, and the Royals left for Arizona and the Cactus League in 2003. Davenport's current economic outlook is very poor. The Baseball City name is now extinct, and the area around the stadium (which was demolished in 2005) has been redeveloped into Posner Park, a large outdoor shopping mall.
The settlement in the area now known as Davenport was established in 1838 when the U.S. military set up Fort Davenport during the Second Seminole War, about 12 miles north of the present site of Davenport. The fort was one of a number built at 20 mile intervals along a trail from Fort Brooke to Fort Mellon. The fort only lasted a few years. The fort was named for Colonel William Davenport, who served as the local U.S. commander in the war. There is no known documentary evidence to support an alternative claim that the city was named for a railroad conductor.
Davenport is generally a place to visit if you're looking for a smaller, relaxed town to stay in while visiting some of the many attractions nearby. Most often, visitors to Davenport use the town as a jumping-off point to visit places like Walt Disney World, Epcot, MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Sea World and Wet 'n' Wild Water Park, all located in Orlando, just a short drive away.

Fort Lauderdale (font princess.com)
According to the popular 1960 beach movie, Fort Lauderdale is where the boys are. The city's reputation as America's Spring Break capital, however, has been replaced with the more favorable image of a prime family tourist destination, attracting more than 10 million visitors annually. The most popular beach resort in Florida is even more rightly famed as the Yachting Capital of the World, with more than 40,000 registered crafts calling its waters home. The city also prides itself on being the Venice of America with more than 300 miles of navigable waterways. Fort Lauderdale boasts world-class theaters, museums, sightseeing, and shopping.
The city sits 24 miles north of Miami and is named after a series of forts built by the United States during the second Seminole War. The forts took their name from Major William Lauderdale, who was the commander of the detachment of soldiers who built the first fort. Look hard and you might find remnants of three of them today. More people seem to be interested in taking a water tour aboard the Carrie B.
