Jungle Cruise at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park - Old Florida Attraction & Wild Animal Zoo
Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is home to Florida's original Jungle Cruise and has an original underwater observatory. It's Jubgle Cruise 2019 but This old Florida roadside attraction is also a filming location for some Walt Disney Films. This beautiful state park and wildlife sanctuary is home to many animals. Manatees, Alligators, Bald Eagles, Fish, and a 59 year old hippo named Lu are among some of the many animals you will see here at this Old Florida wildlife Zoo. Let's take another outdoor adventure in what I like to call Old and vintage Florida. There is so much to see and so much ahead.

Best Place To See Manatees - In All Of Florida!
ORANGE CITY, FL (Florida-TV) One of the best places to see manatees in all of Florida. Florida TV takes an inside look as to why manatees flock here each year. And why people travel from around the world just to view these amazing creatures.
We tag along with the “Save The Manatee” experts that show us how they track, save and count these sea cows. Save the Manatee Club was founded in 1981 by Bob Graham, former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator, and singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett. The Club was started with the mission to protect manatees and their habitat. Today, Save the Manatee Club is the world’s leading manatee conservation organization.
BLUE SPRING STATE PARK
Conservation measures can produce astounding results. In 1970, two years before Blue Spring State Park was established, researchers tracked 14 manatees in the spring run. By 2005, after years of park improvements and manatee protection efforts, wintering manatee numbers exceeded 200. By 2018, that number skyrocketed to a record 485.
Besides sea cows, fish abound in the spring run, and these attract a variety of wading birds, ospreys, eagles and kingfishers. To see the park’s wonders, one can hike along the spring run or on the 4.5-mile Pine Island Trail. One can also launch a canoe or kayak, rent one at the park or take a guided river boat cruise.
Blue Spring State Park is a state park located west of Orange City, Florida in the United States. The park is a popular tourist destination; available activities include canoeing, SCUBA diving, kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking, wildlife watching, and swimming.
Please call Blue Spring State Park at 386-775-3663 before you visit to get the latest manatee count.
Florida Travel: Visit St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge
Just to the west of St. George Island, near Apalachicola, is the St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge. This 12,490-acre barrier island is only accessible by boat, but its remoteness helps maintain the island’s pristine state. Learn more here:

The Plantation on Crystal River, Florida
This episode of Florida's Best Weekend Getaways takes us to one of my favorite places, Crystal River, Florida. Crystal River is a natural spring-fed river that is amazingly clear with turquoise water.
The river is a constant 72 degrees year round due to the 5 million gallons of spring water pumped into out of the ground every day. The constant temperature is what the Manatee love so it is no surprise that it hosts one of the largest Manatee population in the world!
The Plantation on Crystal River is an old southern-style plantation that sits beautifully right on the river and also has a championship golf course as well. They have very nice rooms as well as golf villas that sleep 6. The resort also has an excellent restaurant with one of the best Sunday brunches I've been to.
Along with all of this the spa is amazing!
Checkout their website and you'll see why I love it so much and wanted to feature it for the series.
I highly recommend the Plantation on Crystal River for a weekend getaway! Would I steer you wrong? I don't think so!

Thirty-six federally protected animals live in the park, some of which face grave threats to their survival.
In the United States, the American crocodile's only habitat is within South Florida. They were once overhunted for their hides. They are protected today from hunting but are still threatened by habitat destruction and injury from vehicle collisions when crossing roads to reach waterways. About 2,000 crocodiles live in Florida, and there are roughly 100 nests in the Everglades and Biscayne National Parks. Crocodiles populations in South Florida have increased as has the number of alligators. Crocodiles were reclassified from endangered to threatened in the United States in 2007.

The Real Everglades
The Florida panther is one of the most endangered mammals on earth. About 230 live in the wild, primarily in the Everglades and the Big Cypress Swamp. The biggest threats to the panther include habitat destruction from human development, vehicle collisions, inbreeding due to their limited gene pool, parasites, diseases, and mercury poisoning.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) listed eight Reptiles of Concern, including the Burmese python (Python molurus bivittatus), focusing on them for their large sizes and aggressive natures, allowing licensed hunters to kill any listed animals in protected areas and sell their meat and hides. Burmese pythons, two subspecies of African rock pythons (Python sebae; northern and southern), and yellow anacondas (Eunectes notaeus) were banned from import into the U.S. in 2012. United States Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced the inclusion of these reptiles at Everglades National Park. Exotic species control falls under the management of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which has been compiling and disseminating information about invasive species since 1994. Control of invasive species costs $500 million per year, but 1,700,000 acres (6,900 km2) of land in South Florida remains infested
