Travel to the Northeast with an RV
After becoming stranded in North Carolina in the path of Hurricane Florence I was finally able to get on the road. Then we visited unlikely RV destinations such as Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. Also a very short stay in the state on Maine.

Abandoned Theme Park Dinosaur World Arkansas
Dinosaur World, earlier known as John Agar's Land of Kong and Farwell's Dinosaur Park, was a tourist attraction in Beaver, Arkansas. It was a theme park covering 65 acres which contained a hundred life-size sculptures of dinosaurs, cavemen, and other prehistoric creatures as well as the world's largest Noah's Ark Mural painted by local artist Will Johnson. The park closed in 2005. It was the largest dinosaur park in the world.
The park was started in 1967 when Ola Farwell hired Emmet Sullivan to build 6-10 life-size replicas of dinosaurs. It was called Farwell's Dinosaur Park. In the late 1970s the park was sold to Ken Childs and became John Agar's Land of Kong. That's when a 40 feet (12 m) tall statue of King Kong, known as the World's Largest King Kong, was built. The owner, a friend of film actor John Agar, received permission from John Agar to use his name in the name of the park. John Agar had appeared in the 1976 version of King Kong. Many articles report that John Agar was either the owner or part owner, but he was never either one.
The sculptures were created by Emmet Sullivan, who also designed the dinosaur statues in Dinosaur Park and Wall Drug in South Dakota, and the Christ of the Ozarks statue in nearby Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Two local men, A. C. McBride and Orvis Parker handled the actual construction of the dinosaurs.
Along with the nearby Beaver Dam, a few of the park's dinosaurs are featured briefly during the opening scenes of the 1969 horror movie 'It's Alive!'. The tyrannosaurus is featured in the 2005 film Elizabethtown and is shown on the film's cover.

112 Reynolds Ave. Victorian home in Greenwood, SC
One of Greenwood's most iconic homes is now ready for new owners. The infamous mulberry Victorian home on Reynolds Ave was completed in 1899 for the family of Mr. William Moore, who just happened to be the first judge in Greenwood County. The home was built at a cost of just $3,500! With exquisite attention to detail, it has been lovingly restored by the current owners to show off her true grandeur and glory. It is truly all about the details in this one. From lace-like spindle work to the fully functioning interior transom windows and the 7 foot wide hallway; all common characteristics among Queen Anne style homes. Stepping into the large parlor is like taking a step back in time. You will be welcomed by soaring 11 foot ceilings, a sitting area with fireplace. To the right, through a set of grand pocket doors is the formal living room, complete with fireplace showcasing original tile surround. This leads to a king-sized dining room that features a large built-in china cabinet and beautiful stained glass window. Across the hall you will find the morning room. Three large windows allow the natural light to flow in and an original tongue and groove ceiling complete the historic feel. The master bedroom is also on the first floor with attached bathroom featuring a claw foot tub. The efficient and updated kitchen boasts an abundance of cabinet space, oversized drawers, window seats and wine rack making this room the perfect place for informal family gatherings. The original butlers pantry has been converted to a cozy breakfast room right off the kitchen. Upstairs you will find the remaining three bedrooms, a bathroom and large walk-in attic space. All the rooms on the second floor are well appointed and feature 10 foot ceilings. The exterior of the home is no less impressive. The rounded corner tower and witch's hat turret is the first thing guests notice about this property. You have to look much closer to appreciate the sunburst panel, imbricating fish scale shingles. The grounds have been maintained and feature manicured ivy lined paths and water features. This home is recognized by the Greenwood Historical Society and is truly one of Greenwood's greatest!

Spook Hill - Lake Wales, FL
For some reason guidebooks and websites list Spook Hill as something to do/see in Lake Wales, FL. My wife and I visited Bok Tower Sanctuary (which is actually very cool) then decided to stop by Spook Hill. The idea is that you drive to a certain point on this road and your car will roll against gravity. Watch the video and you'll see this is the dumbest thing ever. The hill you pull up to has about a 15 degree incline - of course you're going to roll backward. Now, if your car rolled forward, that would be something to see. But backward? Dumbest attraction I've ever been to.
