Seven Sisters Waterfall Geiranger Fjord Norway Travel Video - Between the top of Norway and Trondheim we took a ferry on Geiranger Fjord to see the famous seven sisters waterfall. Next to the waterfall is the abandoned Knivsflå farm. The ferry ride we took was about an hour and a half. There were many different ferries to choose from depending on how much time and money you wanted to spend on the fjord.

Geiranger fjord, Norway
The Geiranger Fjord is a fjord in the Sunnmøre region of Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is a 15-kilometre-long branch off the Sunnylvsfjorden, which is a branch off the Storfjorden (Great Fjord). The small village of Geiranger is located at the end of the fjord where the Geirangelva river empties into it.
The fjord is one of Norway's most visited tourist sites. In 2005, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The most notable waterfall in the Geiranger Fjord are Seven Sisters Falls.
Skageflå is one of a handful of historic mountain farms on the steep mountainsides along the Geirangerfjorden. It is located in Stranda Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. Skageflå lies approximately 250 metres above the fjord. The farm is a 2 to 4 hour walk from the nearby village of Geiranger, and can also be reached with help of a local sightseeing boat (M/S Geirangerfjord). The boat takes passengers to a spot on the fjord just below the farm, from where they face a very steep half-hour climb. Coastal Odyssey, a sea kayaking company, runs guided kayaking tours with interpretation to the farm. Active Geiranger also does guided kayak trips to the farm as well as water taxi trips to the trail. Directly across the fjord is the old Knivsflå farm and the Seven Sisters waterfall.

Along the fjord's sides there lie a number of now abandoned farms. Some restoration has been made by the Storfjordens venner association. The most commonly visited among these are Skageflå, Knivsflå, and Blomberg. Skageflå may also be reached on foot from Geiranger, while the others require a boat excursion.
The fjord is also host to several impressive waterfalls.

The Seven Sisters are among the most photographed waterfalls in Geirangerfjorden. They are close to Knivsflå, the abandoned farm. No less than seven waterfalls descend into the fjord. They have an average fall of around 250 meters and are an impressive sight when the water levels are high.
The water level is dependent on the snow thaw and precipitation and may affect whether it is possible to see all seven falls equally clearly. The falls are naturally more visible during the major snow melting period in May-July and can be best observed by taking a boat trip on Geirangerfjord.

Cruise to the North Cape. Der Geirangerfjord ist einer der bekanntesten Fjorde Norwegens und gehört seit dem 14. Juli 2005 zum UNESCO-Weltnaturerbe. Er liegt etwa 200 km (Luftlinie) nordöstlich von Bergen und ungefähr 280 km (Luftlinie) nordwestlich von Oslo in der Provinz Møre og Romsdal.
Er ist etwa 15 km lang, und zwischen 0,6 und 1,3 km breit. Der Geiranger stellt eine Fortsetzung des Sunnylvsfjords dar, der wiederum ein Seitenarm des Storfjords ist. Am Ende des Geirangerfjords, rund 100 km von der Küstenlinie entfernt, liegt der Ort Geiranger.

There are, however, a few mountain farms here, and of these one or two have such hazardous access, by paths that wind around steep precipices, and by bridges that are fixed to the mountain with iron bolts and rings, that they bear witness in a most striking way to the remarkable powers of invention which the challenges of nature have developed in man.
The two most notable waterfalls in the Geiranger Fjord are Seven Sisters Falls and the Suitor (also called The Friar). Both falls face one another across the fjord, and the Suitor is said to be trying to woo the sisters opposite.
The Bridal Veil is another waterfall in the fjord, so named because it falls delicately over one rocky edge, and when seen backlit by the sun it has the appearance of a thin veil over the rocks.

A fjord is a long, narrow arm of the sea with steep sides, carved by glacial activity. Many people consider fjords the very symbol of Norway. This country contains some of the longest, deepest, and most beautiful fjords in the world. In a survey conducted by National Geographic Traveler Magazine the famous fjords of Norway were selected as the number one unspoiled travel spot from a list of 115 destinations around the world.
Gateway to the Fjords
Bergen might be known for many of things but its most famous epithet is the gateway to the fjords. The Norwegian fjords are undoubtedly one of the most popular attractions in Norway and there are a number of fjord trips to choose from.
Recognized on UNESCO's World Heritage list, the Nærøyfjord is Norway's narrowest fjord, making the contrast between the waterway and the 4,500-foot cliffs much more dramatic.
The fjords are regarded as one of the world's most beautiful tourist destinations. National Geographic says Norway is perhaps the most beautiful country in the world. I just might agree. Cruising the fjords with the steep walls and narrow waterways with waterfalls cascading down the sides from snowmelt from the mountains above is something to behold. And there are miles and miles of this terrain that goes sometimes 100 miles inland. On board your cruise ship you don't want to really leave your deck chair for fear of missing interesting sights. There are small farms perched on top of the fjord walls with their little summer homes overlooking the water below. These are sights you will never forget. Bergen is a beautiful and interesting city of some 250,000 people. It offers fascinating points of interest, which include the Bryggen wharf and the Floibanen Funicular. From a viewing point overlooking the city you can see 360 degrees and take in the city, the waterfront, the docks, the homes and all the activity of ships coming and going in this city by the water.
