Nordkapp, North Cape, is it worth visiting?
Nordkapp is a Norwegianized form of the English name North Cape by which the area was historically known dating back to at least 1553. The Old Norse name of the cape was Knyskanes. The municipality was originally named Kjelvik, after the main fishing village for the parish. But that village was totally destroyed by the Germans in 1944 and it never recovered. As a consequence of this the municipality changed the name to Nordkapp in 1950.
Some 200,000 tourists visit Nordkapp annually during the two to three months of summer. The main tourist attractions are the North Cape and the nearby Knivskjellodden. The North Cape first became famous when the English explorer Richard Chancellor rounded it in 1553 while attempting to find a sea route through the Northeast Passage. Helnes Lighthouse is located at the entrance to the Porsangerfjorden.
North Cape, Norway - Fishing, Señores Karmøy
We were fishing codfish by North Cape, exactly between Knivskjellodden and North Cape. We really caught much fish! North Cape is a cape on the island of Magerøya in Northern Norway, in the municipality of Norkapp. Its 307 meters cliff is often referred to as the northernmost point of Europe 71 degree! However, the neighbouringpoint Knivskjellodden lays actually 1457 meters farther north. The North Cape is the point where the Norwegian Sea, part of the Atlantic Ocean, meets the Barents Sea, part of the Arctic Ocean.

Cruise to the North Cape.
North Cape is a cape on the northern coast of the island of Magerøya in Northern Norway. The cape is in Nordkapp Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The European route E69 highway has its northern terminus at North Cape, since it is a popular tourist attraction. The cape includes a 307-metre-high cliff (1,007 ft) with a large flat plateau on top where visitors can stand and watch the midnight sun or the views of the Barents Sea to the north. A new visitor centre was built in 1988 on the plateau with panoramic views, a café, restaurant, post office, souvenir shop, and a so-called super video cinema.[1]
The steep cliff of North Cape is located at 71°10′21″N 25°47′04″E, about 2,102.3 km (1,306.3 mi) from the North Pole. Nordkapp is often wrong referred as the northernmost point of Europe. However, the neighbouring Knivskjellodden Cape, actually extends 1,450 m (4,760 ft) much less to the north. Furthermore, both of these points are situated on an island; the northernmost point of mainland Europe is located at Cape Nordkinn (Kinnarodden) which lies about 5.7 km (3.5 mi) further south and about 70 km (43 mi) to the east. That point is located near the village of Mehamn on the Nordkinn Peninsula. The northernmost point of Europe including islands is hundreds of kilometres further north, either in Russia's Franz Josef Land or Norway's Svalbard archipelago, depending on whether Franz Josef Land is considered to be in Europe or in Asia.
The North Cape is the point where the Norwegian Sea, part of the Atlantic Ocean, meets the Barents Sea, part of the Arctic Ocean. The midnight sun can be seen from 14 May to 31 July. The sun reaches its lowest point between 00:14 and 00:24 during those days.

Northern Norway
Northern Norway is the geographical region of Norway, consisting of the three northernmost counties Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, in total about 35% of the Norwegian mainland. Some of the largest towns in Northern Norway are Mo i Rana, Bodø, Narvik, Harstad, Tromsø and Alta. Northern Norway is often described as the land of the midnight sun and the land of the northern lights. Further north, halfway to the North Pole, is the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, traditionally not regarded as part of Northern Norway.
The region is multi-cultural, housing not just Norwegians but also the indigenous Sami people, Norwegian Finns and Russian populations. The Norwegian language dominates in most of the area; Sami speakers are mainly found inland and in some of the fjord areas of Nordland, Troms and particularly Finnmark – though ethnic Sámi who do not speak the language are found more or less everywhere in the region. Finnish is spoken in only a few communities in the east of Finnmark.

The Beauty Of Nordkyn - The Road To Nervei
Our resent hike was the road to Nervei. We did not have much time so we could not go all the way. But it is on my list for this summer. Hoping to get some good drone shots. 11.2 km this day and we are in good shape after a warm summer.
Nervei (Northern Sami: Njereveadji) is a small Sami village in the Gamvik Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located along the shore of Langfjorden, an arm of Tanafjorden in Eastern Finnmark. The nearby village of Laggo is located to the south.
The main industries in Nervei are sea harvesting and farming. The main exports are cod, dried fish, king crabs, sheep, and products from mohair wool.
There is no official road going to the village yet, so commuting is done by boat from Skjånes or Smalfjord. The residents have been trying to get a road connection for many years, and some work has begun on building a road from Rv. 888 at Reinoksevannet to Nervei. Currently, the dirt-gravel road is open during most of the year when the weather is good, but the road is not high quality.
