Kitsune no Yomeiri: Unique fox bride makeover experience at Studio Kokoro -Hanashizuku- in Kyoto
Experience the kitsune no yomeiri makeover in Kyoto, Japan, done by professionals at Studio Kokoro! They also offer maiko and oiran packages as well!

First and importantly, Studio Kokoro have English speaking staff, so don’t feel nervous about visiting if you are interested! The studio offers plans in which customers can don the kimono of a maiko (apprentice geisha) and have their hair and makeup done in the style of the traditional cultural entertainers. However, the studio also gives the opportunity for a makeover/photo service unlike that you’ll find at any of its rivals.
The fox bride (kitsune no yomeiri) package draws inspiration from Japanese folktales of fox spirit bridal processions. But while maiko makeovers are a tried-and-true line of business for Kyoto photo studios, no one was sure how well a fox bride variant would go over, and so initially the package was offered for only a limited time.
The response from customers was overwhelmingly positive, and Kokoro has now made the fox bride package a permanent part of its service lineup. So positive in fact that some customers have even come back for repeat makeovers.
Different to the geisha makeover, lighter makeup is used, and the use of bold red accents around the eyes help to create the alluring mysterious aura. Also of note is the fox bride makeover wardrobe. Instead of the colorful kimono used for the maiko photo shoots, the fox bride is dressed in a snowy white wedding kimono, complete with a wataboshi headdress.
Striking as the finished look may be, transforming into a fox bride doesn’t take all that terribly long. It takes about an hour to style your hair, apply your makeup, and dress you in the kimono. After that you’ll spend time with the photographer taking the pictures and choosing your prints, with the entire process taking about two and a half hours.
And if neither the fox bride nor maiko packages are quite what you’re looking for, there is also the oiran (courtesan) package as well.

Oiran Makeover in Kyoto!
Hello, Muggles!
Finally, my photo book came in the mail so I could finish this video!
The purpose of visiting Kyoto was to try one of the Oiran plans at Studio Esperanto.
The make-up artists and stylists were so quick and amazing, they let me film their process as long as I didn't catch any customers in the frames, so I had to edit a little here and there.
The theme of my shoot was Sakurahime which was a season special, their special shoots change seasonally.
My senpai @ningyosekai is also in the video and took a regular Oiran plan.

Oiran (花魁) were courtesans in Japan. The oiran were considered a type of yūjo (遊女) woman of pleasure or prostitute. However, they are distinguished from ordinary yūjo in that they were entertainers, and many became celebrities even outside the pleasure districts.
Samurai were the military nobility and officer caste of medieval and early-modern Japan. In Japanese, they are usually referred to as bushi or buke.

Just like Subaru, Rem appears to have been transported to another world, but this time, in Japan! The figure is based on an illustration that was used for the Re:ZERO - Starting Life in Another World Rem Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print that was released in June 2018, and features Rem wearing the same beautiful blue kimono as the (much) smaller 1/8 figure that compliments her hair and eyes perfectly.
This is no simple upscale of the 1/8 figure. Using advanced 3D modelling and printing technology, each and every individual part of the figure has been carefully re-examined and tweaked just for this 1:1 masterpiece.
It is actually for sale to the public, however only 10 units have been produced for the Japanese market, with a price tag that is through the roof. Only for the hardest of hardcore fans.

Happy Lunar New Year, everyone!
If you’re bored on the couch needing something to watch while you’re visiting your relatives this New Year, why not plug in and follow along as I walk you through how I created this creative makeup look inspired by the Shinto fox spirit statues you’d see if you visit Inari Shrines in Japan. For all my Natsume Yuujincho fans out there, this look sort of reminds me of Madara/Nyanko-Sensei as well.
If you’re looking to recreate this look, you can always use a red liquid or cream lipstick in place of a red liner to paint on the lines with a brush. It might actually provide you with a smoother finish at the end as well!
I had a ton of fun creating this makeup look and making this video for you!
