With an iconic I Love KL installation right outside its doors, the ARCH Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is one of the must-visits for those who want to find out more about the city. Part of the ARCH group's initiatives in preserving and promoting the heritage of Kuala Lumpur, the city gallery is hosted in a 113-year-old colonial building which has served as the city's central printing hub.
Now, the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is a treasure trove of Kuala Lumpur-related matters, and has on display a breathtaking range of prints, photos and miniatures that is sure to excite visitors, receiving over 730,000 people annually.

Jalan-jalan ke Dataran Merdeka, yang menjadi tujuan utama adalah ke KL Gallery in. Karena persis di depan gedung ada icon besar berwarna merah bertuliskan I LOVE KL dan banyak wisatawan yang kesini memang sengaja untuk berfoto disini.
Selain itu di dalam KL Gallery ini pengujung bisa melihat lihat sejarah tentang Kuala Lumpur dari jaman penjajahan kolonial Britania Raya sampe merdeka. Banyak juga souvenir yang dijual di dalam Galeri Kuala Lumpur ini.

The Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is free of charge and the opening is 8am - 6pm daily.
*The Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is located in a historical building that was in built in 1899 during the British colonial administration as a printing office. In 1986 The City Hall bought the building and turned it into the first public library of Kuala Lumpur.

The Kuala Lumpur City Gallery building was first built to meet the administrative needs of Kuala Lumpur,In 1899 during the British colonial administration the newly founded capital of the Federated Malay States. It replaced the Government Printing Office in Taiping, which was closed down. The government printer at the time, J. Russell, helped the Public Works Department architect A. C. Norman design the ideal printing office to house large printing press machines. The exterior façade was designed based on neo-Renaissance principles, with exposed bricks, plastered columns, and large semi-circular windows decorated with keystones; while the interior had a structural support system of cast iron columns and trusses. The building did not have a pronounced entrance or front porch, but just a simple door located on the western side. Canopy roofs were added above the first floor windows in the 1940s, as protection against the harsh tropical sun.
For years, the printing office produced official government reports, government books and train tickets. In 1961 the Ministry of Labour took over the building, and later in 1977, the building was converted to the Metropolitan Postal Security Office.
In 1986, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall bought the building for over RM3 million, then renovated and furnished it with quality library equipment, making it the first public library in Kuala Lumpur. The Kuala Lumpur Memorial Library, as it was named, also acted as a research centre on all things related to Kuala Lumpur – its history, administration and development, as well as exhibitions on objects and artifacts connected to the heritage of the city. After opening its doors in 1989, the library grew quickly and after three years, it made history by being the first public library in Peninsular Malaysia to go on-line.
The library was renamed the Kuala Lumpur Library in 2000, and a new annex was added on in 2004.

总的来说还是蛮值得一去的 接近一个小时就可以逛完了 是一个蛮小的景点！

In the evening the Merdaka Square is beautifully lit up and make it a point to visit this iconic place when you visit Kuala Lumpur.

KL City Gallery layaknya sebuah museum mini sekaligus pusat informasi mengenai sejarah Kuala Lumpur dari zaman dulu hingga sekarang. Disini diceritakan perjalanan Kuala Lumpur saat masih dalam jajahan Inggris, kota tambang timah hingga peristiwa penting yang pernah terjadi di kota ini.
Sebuah Dataran merdeka (Merdeka Square) tak jauh dari Galeri menempatkan sebuah bangunan kuno bergaya kolonial yang menjadi bukti jejak kolonial pernah berjaya di Kota ini, kemudian juga terdapat lapangan yang menjadi saksi sejarah saat bendera Union Jack milik Inggris diturunkan dan bendera Malaysia pertama kali dikibarkan pada 31 Agustus 1957.
Masih di kawasan Dataran Merdeka terdapat River of Life, Sebuah sungai nadi kehidupan pertemuan antara Sungai Klang dan Sungai Gombak, 2 sungai bersejarah seperti yang diceritakan dalam Galeri, sungai kecil ini menjadi poin dan project penting bagi pemerintah setempat. Check this out!
