Triumph at Tours (732 AD)
Charles Martel halted islamic expansion into France and the rest of Western Europe with a brilliant display at Tours in 732 AD. Refusing compromise, he expanded his authority by defeating his rival Odo's enemy and saved his kingdom from arab conquest. However, his triumph may turn out to be shortlived, as less then two years ago Paris lost a hundred and thirty to an islamic attack. With the muslim population growing in France, Martel's Christian Frankish Kingdom, that fought hard and defiantly rejected the Mohamedan invaders, seems to be a distant memory compared to the modern day nation.
This video in particular should remind us to come to Christ. Our ancestors fought fiercely for us to be able to give Glory to God. They lost their lives to keep their lands Christian. How disgraceful it is for Europe to fall to atheism, and to accept slow ethnic, religious, and cultural genocide through faltering birth rates and mass migration.
Let us remember men like Charles Martel - No compromise. Brilliance at the perfect moment. Pray that his work at Tours is not in vain, and that when you are on your death bed the nations of France, of Spain, of Germany, of all of Europe remain European and Christian!
Decision in Battle: Tours 732 AD
The 9th Grade Excel Class at Groves High School teaches an elective called Decision in Battle. The goals of the course are teaching research skills and modeling presentation skills. I do this by describing battles from time periods we have covered in World History (so they have background knowledge) and pausing to allow students to take on the role of battlefield commander at important decisive points in a battle. I create a choose-your-own-adventure type of scenario and students can test their wits against great commanders. This was the first test so a simple battle was used. They seemed to enjoy it.
Disclaimer: My previous videos Battles That Changed History followed a similar format except for the in-class questions. Because the students need background the number and type of battles presented is limited to time periods and areas of the world we have covered.

Prelude to Tours - Toulouse (721 AD) & Bordeaux (732 AD)
IMPORTANT: These two events were very hard to find visuals for. Information was limited, as well. It seems as if Tours completely overshadowed Toulouse, and most don't want to record Bordeaux. What is interesting is that there was a memorial made by the muslims for those defeated at Toulouse, but not for those defeated at Tours. Despite this, Toulouse seems less documented.
A brief overview on the events that led to the clash between Charles and Rahman at Tours / Poiters.
