Old Growth eucalyptus forest in Warburton, Australia back in the 1980's. That's me in the mosquito net to keep flies out of my eyes (musta been Flyday). There's a photo of me in the forest but you can barely see me because my stone-washed jeans, plaid shirt and olive drab hat made me kind of camouflaged but if you spot me, it shows how immense these trees are. Before most of them were felled at the start of the 20th century, they may have been the tallest trees in the world. They weren't measured or documented.

The Bridge - Warburton, Australia

Photos taken of the Brisbane Bridge in Warburton, Victoria in April 2010. We usually go to Warburton for our planning days for our business BJ Seminars International. We sat by the river and during a break I decided to experiment with black and white shots of the nearby bridge. Warburton is a lovely tourist town located about 75 km, east of Melbourne.

Warburton Redwood Forest, Victoria, Australia - A Day Trip From Melbourne

About one and half hours drive from Melbourne is the Warburton Redwood Forest at Cement Creek. It is one of two Redwood, or Sequoia, Forests in Australia. Both are within 3 hours drive of Melbourne however this one is the closest. This plantation of redwoods is to the east of Melbourne in the beautiful Yarra Ranges - the source of the Yarra River - and just a few kilometres outside of the lovely little town of Warburton.

The redwood forest is an easy day trip from Melbourne. Families will love running between the giant trees and checking out the huge bird nests. Apparently it has become a thing to twist branches into giant nests. There couldn't really be birds here this size could there? :)

Mount Donna Buang isn't far away and is the closest snow play area to Melbourne.
