Panagiotopoulos Wines - Malagousia 2015 - PGI Peloponnese tasted 100% blind by the Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Fresh Grapes, Pure Light Style, Freshness
Pale straw colour with a green hue, a slight hint of CO2. Very grapy nose. Hints of fresh grapes. Very floral with barely ripe green apple and citrus. Light-bodied, with an elevated acidity. So high level of freshness, quite mouth-watering. There is a slight hint of bitterness like fresh grape skin, fresh grapes, once again. Rather light body and medium long finish. Again I would say this is a style which is quite attractive in a warm climate, towards the beginning of the meal from those traditional Meditarrian varieties. Well made in that pure light style.

Berry Fruit, Mild Spices, Fresh
Youthful appearance here still with a purple tinge and a medium deep core. Pure nose, still quite youthful, mostly with primary fruit. Plum, red and dark berries, a mild spiciness. Fresh palate here, nice juiciness. Not a lot of tannin. Attractive berry fruit, mild spices. Good level of freshness. Not really any new oak there. Keeps within the medium body frame. Has a medium towards long finish. Attractive with a good drinkability.

Medium deep ruby colour with a purple hue. Young nose blending red and dark berries with an herbal spiciness, modest oak and some tobacco notes. The palate has medium to full body with a tannic backbone, yet no hard edges, discreet oak, digest fruit, liquorice and long finish. Well-built for long ageing.

Nutty, Fine Spice, Balsamic Notes
This is something very old. The colour is amber brown with a slightly green rim. Very intense nose, very traditional style. Oxidative ageing, deliberate oxidation, so a lot of age here. We have a lot of dried fruit, I would say really ripe like date, fig, prune. With a lot of spiciness. There are some balsamic notes as well, leather, pine nuts. Palate is quite full, with a high level of sweetness. Yet, it does have a certain maturity so the sweetness has rounded off a little bit. It is not really sticky on the palate. I would rather say nutty. There is a lot of nuttiness in there. Fine spicy notes with leather, wood, tobacco. Obviously, it is complex because we have a fair amount of age here. Long lasting, really keeps lingering. Very traditional style and a fine drink today indeed.

Domaine De Tholomies 2013 - Minervois La Livinière
Domaine De Tholomies 2013 - Minervois La Livinière tasted by the Best Sommelier in the World Andreas Larsson.
Concentrated Opulent Fruit, Chocolate Powder Tannin, Rich Texture
Very intense colour, still very black centre with a purple blue rim, colouring the glass. Intense nose, very modern, high degree of ripeness, ripe dark berries, blackberry, cassis, some dark chocolate in there. We have new wood in there but it’s well concealed beneath that layer of dark fruit; vanilla, some roasted notes. Very dense palate, good degree of concentration. I think it’s a fine balance between the tannins, that are grainy, almost like chocolate powder, giving a lift to that sweet opulent fruit. It’s obviously a rich texture, but I still think it keeps within the frame of a balanced and fresh wine. Oak is more integrated on the palate than on the nose. Very warm and friendly, with a sweet fruit profile. Well balanced, I think it has a quite attractive drinkability to it already now, I would however after opening it up put it in a decanter half an hour before drinking it. Showing a very good length, very persistent on the palate. A nice and modern style of Southern French Languedoc style without losing their identity, and well-treated oak finally. A wine that certainly has the potential to be aged for quite many years in the cellar, but I would be happy to open it rather in its youth and enjoy it with a nice chunky steak.

Fine Candy, Bone Dry, Nutty Finish
It is a spirit that shows fine maturity here, we have a medium deep amber colour, and very pale rim. It’s a beautiful intensity on the nose here. Really a Cognac that has reached a fine level of complexity and maturity here. I get a lot of sweetness here; like candid, like fine candy, fine liquorice, with spicy notes, tobacco and cedar wood. Beautiful intensity with a lot of stuff in there. The wood is not really dominating so it is in a fine harmony. Flavour-wise it is really rich, ample and mouth-filling. It is warm in terms of alcohol, but I don't think that the alcohol really adds anything, rather it adds a certain amount of freshness. No sweetness to talk about, in terms of caramel or whatever, it is really a bone dry, nutty finish, with that multi-layered spiciness and complexity. Really, really long finish and overall nice harmony and complexity.

Minerality, Stone Fruit, Bright Freshness
Quite pale colour here. Straw colour nuance, bright, youthful. The nose is fine. Good intensity here. No indication of oak. A lot of nuttiness like fresh almond, hazelnut. The fruitiness is in the direction of stone fruit. Good grip on the palate here. The wine has a good concentration. Fine and integrated extract there. So very gentle bitterness. Quite mouth-filling. It is not, it still keeps a very bright freshness even though the fruit is slightly rounded with a good level of ripeness. Good persistence as well. Yeah, really long finish. Good presence of minerality. Modern vinification, no oakiness. Good purity of fruit and good character and personality as well. Should develop over the coming four or five years, but it is pretty attractive already.

Redcurrant, Cassis, Tobacco
The colour has a certain maturity here, it is I would say, light towards medium ruby-red, developed on the rim. Fine nose, also developed. There is a hint of complexity here. Still a lot of fruit, it is no baby for sure. To me, it leans in the direction of let say Bordeaux varieties Cabernet, Merlot, something. With classic notes of cassis, redcurrant, leather, tobacco. But I like it, it is a fine spiciness, it does have layers. Discreet. Not too much of anything, just a lot of everything. Nice palate. Good flavour intensity, good maturity. Tannins are well-integrated today, so quite grainy. I suppose this is a wine that has a certain evolution. Probably with a lot of tannin in its youth, but I think this drinkability now is good. Well underlined by a nice level of freshness. Elegant red and dark fruit like redcurrant and cassis. Some leathery, tobacco notes on the finish. Discreet spiciness, well-integrated oak. Complex wine, good level of drinkability. Certainly should keep another ten years in a good cellar with this level of concentration. Today drinks very well, very nice result.

Freshly Crushed Grapes, Lemon, Acidity
Pale straw colour with a green hue. There is still some CO2 present, indicating quite young wine. Pure nose, fresh. I like the purity of fruit here. We have a notion of fresh grapes. Feels like a very traditional variety with that grapy profile. In addition, we have some ripe pear, with lemon and lime notes. Good grip on the palate here. Medium weight it has no oak, high level of acidity. Very fresh with notes of those freshly crushed grapes, lemon and lime. Quite long on the finish. Very zesty and clean. Modern vinification. Nicely made. A style that I think is most attractive to drink quite as young as possible.

Château Tourril - Panatella 2013 - Minervois
Château Tourril - Panatella 2013 - Minervois tasted 100% blind by the Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
The colour is medium, medium-deep ruby-red, nothing blue or purple so a certain evolution it seems. Pure nose, mainly primary fruit, with a combination of red and dark berries. There is a slight meatiness as well like smoked meat, spiciness like ginger, clove. With a floral component as well like violet. Good grip on the palate. This is rather medium weight. Still youthful with a presence of tannin but quite ripe, quite fine, should just need some more time to round off a little bit. Well preserved acidity as well, giving a lift to that quite intense and ripe sweet fruit. Medium towards long finish. With freshly ground pepper, some spicy notes. So a wine that should develop nicely, but in terms of the texture today I would still like to give it another one to two years in a good cellar.

Lush Yellow Plum, Creamy, Fine Spiciness
Bright golden colour, medium deep golden. Very perfumed on the nose. There is a lot of flowers in there, white flower. Very tropical fruit here, in the direction of pineapple, mango, really ripe apricot. Some creaminess, almost like yogurt. But no evident oak. So a very lush and fruity impression. Nice palate here. Broad and mouth-filling. A mouth of that lush yellow plum, apricot. There is a fine spiciness. A lot of floral notes with violet. Almost like a creamy texture. So no presence of oak, rather an expression of that lushes ripe fruit. Good length, good power. It does have freshness, it is not really high acidity per say. It still leaves your palate with a fresh sensation. An attractive wine indeed.

Domaine Chiroulet - Grande Reserve 2009 - Cotes de Gascogne tasted by The Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Red and Dark Berries, Herbal Spiciness, Dried Tannic Sensation
Red wine with a medium intense ruby-red nuance, colour is starting to fade on the rim. The nose shows some evolution, leaning a bit more towards dried fruit. Like dark plum, slight hint of cassis, bright cherry with a slight herbal spiciness. Some notes of manuka honey, sage and a discreet woody touch. The palate has medium weight, a bit more than medium weight. Quite high density of fruit. There is still a tannic presence there, but I feel like the wine has gotten some evolution. The fruit is started to round off and become a bit sweeter. Nice herbal spiciness. Good mix of red and dark berries. Balanced acidity and the wood is not really noticeable on the palate. Medium towards long finish. Still with a slightly dried sensation from the tannin. Overall a good balance and drinkability.

Lemon Zest, Frim Acidity, Juicy
The colour is still quite youthful, with a slight green hue. Colour intensity is approaching golden, light golden. Gently roasted on the nose. Some new oak. Plenty of yellow fruit. There is an herbal spiciness. Plenty of lemon zest, with some honey, cut grass. Very intense and layered. Good grip on the taste. Very fresh acidity. There is also a good deal of extract here, like lemon zest, lime. Very lingering on the finish. Fine integration of oak. Very juicy and attractive today. Quite bold and generous at the same time. It is restrained by that firm acidity. Truly fine example. Good drinkability now, but with the potential for another six, seven, eight years.
