Pronti Partenza...Via TRIP fa tappa a SALO' località adagiata lungo un golfo della sponda bresciana del Lago di Garda. Il borgo, di antica origine romana, divenne molto importante in epoca tardomedievale quando si distinse come capoluogo della Comunità di Riviera sotto il dominio della Serenissima, che le conferì il titolo di Magnifica Patria e rimase una provincia autonoma sino all'epoca napoleonica.
In epoca più recente fu sede di alcuni ministeri della breve Repubblica Sociale Italiana che trovarono collocazione in alcuni dei più grandi palazzi signorili della città.
Oggi Salò è una piacevole località di villeggiatura, protetta da dolci colline moreniche e affacciata sul più grande lago d'Italia.

Lake Garda Salo in Italy 4K
Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location located in northern Italy, about halfway between Brescia and Verona, and between Venice and Milan on the edge of the Dolomites. Glaciers formed this alpine region at the end of the last Ice Age. The lake and its shoreline are divided between the provinces of Verona (to the south-east), Brescia (south-west), and Trentino (north). The name Garda, which the lake has been seen referred to in documents dating to the eighth century, comes from the town of the same name. It is the evolution of the Germanic word warda, meaning place of guard or place of observation.

Salo is een plaats in de Italiaanse regio Lombardije en behoort tot de provincie Brescia.
De plaats ligt op de westelijke oever van het Gardameer waar het een haven en een strand heeft, Salo werd door de Romeinen gesticht onder de naam Pagus Salodium.
In 1337 werd het de hoofdstad van het autonome gebied Magnifica Patria dat de westoever van het Gardameer en het Valle Sabbia omvatte.
Ten noorden van Salo strekt zich het regionale natuurpark Alto Garda Bresciano uit.
Ten zuiden ligt een glooiend moerenelandschap waar veel landbouw bedreven wordt.

Welcome to Salò! Joined with Gardone on the Gardone Riviera, Salò is tucked into the south-western corner of Lake Garda. The buildings in Salò are a tip of the cap towards the Italian liberty (Art Nouveau) architectural style after the original town of Salò was damaged by an earthquake in 1901 and rebuilt with a forward-thinking outlook. Today the town is full of tasty cafes, restaurants as well as impressive town houses that line the promenade along the lake. It is also a hub of lively music culture as well, on Thursday nights, the lake side promenade transforms into an open-air venue for local bands and musicians.

Salò is a town and comune in the Province of Brescia in the region of Lombardy on the banks of Lake Garda, on which it has the longest promenade. The city was the seat of government of the Italian Social Republic from 1943 to 1945, with the ISR often being referred to as the Salò Republic (Repubblica di Salò in Italian).
Although legend has it that Salò has Etruscan origins, recorded history starts with the founding by ancient Romans of the colony of Pagus Salodium. There are numerous ruins of the Roman settlement, as shown by the Lugone necropolis (in via Sant’Jago) and the findings (vase-flasks and funeral steles) in the Civic Archaeological Museum located at the Loggia della Magnifica Patria. The origins of the municipality of Salò are barely known: its autonomy from Brescia can be dated towards the end of the 13th century or the beginning of the next one, and the most ancient statues conserved by the city authorities are dated 1397.
From 1943 to 1945 Salò was the de facto capital (seat of government) of Benito Mussolini's Nazi-backed puppet state, the Italian Social Republic, also known as the Republic of Salò: Villa Castagna was the seat of the police headquarters, Villa Amedei was the head office of the Ministry of Popular Culture, Villa Simonini (nowadays Hotel Laurin) was the seat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Stefani Agency, which distributed official press releases, was located in Via Brunati.

The Duomo di Santa Maria Annunziata (cathedral of the Annunciation to Saint Mary), rebuilt in late Gothic style in the 15th century. It has a noteworthy Renaissance portal by Gasparo Cairano and Antonio Mangiacavalli, paintings by Zenone Veronese (16th century), a Polyptych of Paolo Veneziano's school and a Madonna and Saints by Romanino.
The Palazzo della Magnifica Patria (Palace of the Magnificent Fatherland, 16th century). The palace is home to the Historical Museum of the Azure Ribbon, an exhibition of documents on Renaissance history, on Italy's colonial wars, the Spanish Civil War and the Resistance against Fascism.
The Communal Palace is the seat of the Civic Archaeological Museum, with findings from the ancient Salodium.
