Glenbawn Dam is a major ungated earth and rock fill with clay core embankment dam with concrete chute spillway plus fuse plugs across the Hunter River upstream of Aberdeen in the Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia. The dam's purpose includes flood mitigation, hydro-electric power, irrigation, water supply and conservation. The impounded reservoir is called Lake Glenbawn. Glenbawn Dam was created through enabling legislation enacted through the passage of the Glenbawn Dam Act, 1946 . The Act appropriated A£1,500,000 as the estimated cost of construction of the dam.

Australia Day Long Weekend camping trip to Lake Glenbawn (HV)

On our last day of camping at Lake Glenbawn I became very lazy when it was time to set up the group shot. Whilst everybody else was setting up the timers on their still cameras, I decided to cop out and just hit record on the High Definition camera and so I could find a good frame later and extract it... such a cheat!

Glenbawn Dam 2017

Glenbawn Dam offers a range of campsites from cabins right through to bush camping sites. Not too far from Scone in New South Wales this is an awesome spot to get away from it all and enjoy some fishing, camping and having a great break.

Lake Liddell Camping Area - Muswellbrook , NSW

The Lake Liddell Recreation Area is a beautiful spot on a lovely lake. There is plenty of room for lots of campers and there are hot showers and toilets. There are also powered sites, picnic tables, firepits and waater is available. You cannot enter the water or use the water in the lake due to a naturally occurring bacteria which can be dangerous to humans but this does not spoil the area. There is also some noise from the train line and the colliery across the lake. You can buy firewood from the reception area at the front of the campground.
