On this lovely day i decided to go swimming at the lake with the sister thanks for the edit.

McIntyre lake situated near Millicent in South Australia's limestone coast is a must for those keen travellers. Once you there, you feel like you're in a entire different world. The limestone coast of South Australia sure does show her true colours.

The first location to visit is the interpretive centre
here there are 2 benches and lots of information.
Lake McIntrye was Grazing property under ownership of
the McIntyre family up until 1975 when the Council
purchased the land to establish a Sale yards complex.
The lake only came about because of the foresight of a
council employee Mr Trevor Osborne that the rehabilitation
of this land should be Started was started after the land was also quarried
for its sandstone that was used for the sale yard and reconstruction of the streets and roads.
The Lake has a scenic walk that will take you through
the Park and boasts beautiful flora with Seats located
at short intervals and huge grassed areas with
tables and chairs for great picnic locations.
The Walk is a 1.3km walk that recommends to allow 20 minutes
to complete the circuit however you may find yourself taking
much longer due to the stopping and admiring the areas you
walk through.
The path is also wheelchair friendly as the only steps are to
1 of the 2 Birdhides along this trail that both were constructed
by Students at Millicent Community Learning Centre.
In the Bird hides there are benches close to the viewing windows
to allow you the opportunity to sit down and take in all the Birds
flying and swimming around the lake. You may even be lucky
enough to see some turtles. In the Bird hides and along the walk
there are signs and posts letting you know what plants or animals
you may encounter along your journey.
As you finish walking around the trail you will come
across walkways with tree canopies creating a lovely
shaded area and a break from the wind.
Lake McIntyre is an amazing rehabilitated area and
a big thank you goes to the Millicent Rotary club
for the support and efforts put into the early days of this project
and continuation of working with the Lake McIntyre Management board
who are also a volunteer group that take the responsibilty of
managing and the continual rehabilitation of the wetlands
These community groups are always in need of more hands
and some of the programs the Management board has is to
adopt a garden bed or General gardening. If you would like
to help please reach out to these groups and offer your
time to continue to make Lake McIntyre the amazing place
is has become once more.

Pollie Pedal 2013 - Millicent and Mount Gambier
A group of 50 Coalition politicians rode from Kingston to Mount Gambier via Millicent as part of the 2013 Pollie Pedal to raise money and awareness for Carers Australia. Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott met with the community at a lunch in Centennial Park, Millicent before riding to the Cave Gardens in Mount Gambier where politicians played a game of soccer agains the Limestone Coast Special Olympics Soccer Team. Liberal Candidate for Barker Tony Pasin joined in the South East leg of the 1000km ride.

We go and explore the beautiful Blue Lake which is just over the boarder going into South Australia. Between certain months of the year it goes to this lovely turquoise blue, and then for the rest of the year it goes to a dark greyish colour.
