Plastiras lake is at the centre of Greece, about four hours away from Athens and Thessaloniki.
The impressive dam in Kakavia created Lake Plastiras. A Greek general, later prime minister,
Nicholas Plastiras, had the idea in 1928. Years later, the dam and the lake became a reality
and he became its ‘godfather’. Although modesty never permitted him to say so, the lake was his gift to future generations; blue water, beaches and fir trees, with people enjoying the landscape in every possible way. It’s a sight for sore eyes! The lake is framed by the fir tree peaks of the Agrafa Mountains, one of the most beautiful.
The road around the lake’s perimeter is a montage of beautiful images. Along the route (70km long), you’ll enjoy all the most important sights of the area. A good idea is to divide the lake into sections of interest and see it in two or three days.
Activities around the lake: canoeing, horseback riding, water bicycling, biking, skiing, fishing, hiking, paragliding & sailplaning.
The villages of the lake: Kalyvia, Neraida, Neochori
Monasteries: Panagia Pelekiti is one of the most impressive attractions in the area, while Petras Monastery and Korona (‘Crown’) Monastery will remind you of a castle and will thrill you!
Local cuisine: Enjoy grilled and stewed meat, trout cooked over charcoal and other traditional dishes. Everything here is fresh & tasty. All these flavors will become unforgettable! Lake Trichonida (Greek: Λίμνη Τριχωνίδα - Limni Trichonida, Ancient Greek: Λίμην Τριχωνίς - limen Trichonis) is the largest natural lake in Greece. It is situated in the eastern part of Aetolia-Acarnania, southeast of the city of Agrinio and northwest of Nafpaktos. It covers an area of 98.6 square kilometres (38.1 sq mi) with a maximum length of 19 kilometres (12 mi) and maximum depth of 58 metres (190 ft).

Λίμνη Τριχωνίδα είναι η μεγαλύτερη λίμνη της Ελλάδας. Βρίσκεται στον νομό Αιτωλοακαρνανίας, μεταξύ των επαρχιών Μεσολογγίου και Τριχωνίδας, νότια του Παναιτωλικού όρους και βόρεια του Αρακύνθου, εκτείνεται από τα ανατολικά προς τα δυτικά και συνδέεται δυτικά με τη γειτονική λίμνη Λυσιμαχία. Hotel Guesthouse Odysseas review. Greece.
My honest review: Hotel Guesthouse Odysseas, Nevropoli Kerasias, Kerasea, 43067, Greece. Situated in Lake Plastira area near Kryoneri, Odysseas is a stone-built guesthouse offering traditional accommodation with beautiful mountain and lake views. It serves homemade breakfast and provides free on-site parking.The rooms of Guesthouse Odysseas are warmly decorated in lively colours. They feature wrought iron beds and dark wood furnishings. They are equipped with TV and have a private bathroom with shower. All rooms include balconies, some with scenic views of the lake.Traditional breakfast with regional specialties is served every morning by the fireplace of the breakfast room. Guests can relax at the cozy living room of hotel Odysseas equipped with a flat-screen TV while enjoying local spoon sweets.Guests enjoy access to a communal kitchen with coffee and tea

Στις 14-16 Σεπτεμβρίου, πραγματοποιήθηκε το offroad festival με μεγάλη επιτυχία, το οποίο πλαισίωσαν τα πιο γνωστά off road clubs, καθώς και τα πιο γνωστά καταστήματα και εισαγωγείς του χώρου. Όπως ήταν φυσικό, το παρόν έδωσε το California 4x4 club, το οποίο είναι γνωστό για τα ίσως καλύτερα και πιο ψαγμένα build στην Ελλάδα.
