We take or cousin Sara out for one last camping trip while she's visiting from Denmark, and what better place to take her than Binna Burra (Lamington National Park, Scenic Rim)! Join us as we trek the stunning mountain trails, and fight to keep our food away from feisty brush turkeys and meat-eating possums! Oh... and the best part of all? Australian Wonders...Coomera Circuit, Binna Burra, Lamington NP QLD
Sat 15th June 2019 - Trail Running the Coomera Circuit at Binna Burra, Lamington National Park QLD.
Wikilocs Trail:
16.13km run in 2hrs 38mins. We had a 10min stop for morning tea at the top of some falls.
A simple video showing this amazing Class 4 trail. Very beautiful and scenic to run alongside the serene creeks and waterfalls and its atmospheric sounds. The guys surprised themselves that they could run that distance.
Shot this footage using the Insta360 One X camera. Video quality not as clear as I'd like it to be most likely due the the low light in the rain forest most of the way. However it is very stabilized considering I was shooting the footage whilst running. Also, this little camera allows you to pick and choose what footage angle gets shown - after you shoot the action! I tried demonstrating that with a couple of shots where you get to see the same thing from another angle...which is something other cameras cannot do. Very interesting, and still learning.

Our amazing adventure at Binna Burra continues...
Curious about what lies further along the trail we walked the day before, we get up at dawn to tackle the 5 km cave circuit, and we're not disappointed! The morning chorus of rainforest birds is music to the ears as we venture deep into the cool, dark rainforest. After a refreshing milk shake, we're ready to tackle our next walk. It's a short 1 km trail, but it lead to a much longer, seemingly isolated trail that was hardly visible! It took us deep into the forest, and lead us to a spectacular drop off where a magnificent waterfall once raged, and the views there were hard to absorb! Our time in this mesmerising place was coming to a close, but Binna Burra had one last surprise up it's sleeve - the return of the meat-eating possum!!! See how it all unfolds!

Binna Burra Teahouse Camping Ground Lamington National Park
A beautiful bush setting high in the Lamington National Park at Binna Burra Teahouse. Caters for caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, tents. Various assortment of cabins with 2 camp kitchens and reasonable ammenities. Teahouse cafe is next door. As are many stunning bush walks of varying lengths for all levels of walkers.

Araucaria Lookout hike - Binna Burra, Lamington National Park, Queensland Australia
Jim and Melissa hiking again in Binna Burra. This time on the amazing Araucaria Lookout hike. Our GPS said 21.63 kilometeres through rainforest to a small pinnacle covered in grasstrees and orchids which looked out over Mt Warning and the Tweed and Numinbah Valleys.
Binna Burra Short Walks, Lamington National Park, Queensland, Australia
Lower Bellbird Track - Starting 3.7 km along the Ships Stern Track, this track winds its way through dry rainforest passing large rock features adorned with ferns. Cross Rifle Bird Creek and Bellbird Creek before emerging at Egg Rock clearing. Ascend the Beechmont Range, catching glimpses back down Kurraragin Valley, to reach Binna Burra Road 500 metres downhill from the Information Centre.
Caves Circuit - Beginning from the Information Centre this track offers great views of Coomera Valley, the Darlington Range and extensive areas of rainforest dominated by hoop pine. A short tunnel cut through volcanic rock reveals Kweebani Cave, once used extensively by the Yugambeh people. The track then climbs steeply up the range to emerge near Binna Burra Lodge and campsite.
Tullawallal Circuit - The track leaves the Border Track 1.9 km from Binna Burra and leads to an elevated patch of cool temperate rainforest featuring ancient Antarctic beech trees at the summit, Tullawallal. Returning to Binna Burra via the Loop Track, discover fungi, ferns, figs and booyong.

Heritage-listed Binna Burra Lodge destroyed in Queensland bushfires | ABC News
Firefighters remain on high alert after battling through the night to contain dozens of blazes burning across southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.
In the Gold Coast Hinterland, bushfires have badly damaged the heritage-listed Binna Burra Lodge.

Binna Burra and O'Reilly's rainforest retreats are located in Lamington National Park, Queensland. Here are a few photographs of Binna Burra.
Stretching out across the McPherson Ranges in south-east Queensland, Lamington National Park is World Heritage-Listed wilderness area which comprises Australia's largest remnant of sub-tropical rainforest. More than 160 kills of walking tracks wend their way through fern-filled gullies, wind-eroded caves and up to breathtaking lookouts. On the highest peaks, misty forests of ancient Antarctic beech trees date back over 2000 years; down in the valleys, crystal clear streams cascade over moss-covered boulders into deep mountain pools. Wildlife: The area abounds with native wildlife. Echoing through dense canopy overhead, you 'II hear the call of Whip birds, Satin Bowerbirds and Green Catbirds, the rare Rufous Scrub Bird and Paradise Rifle Bird. In the jungle thick undergrowth, goannas, scrub turkeys and pademelons show no fear of visitors.

Daves Creek Circuit is said to have the most varied vegetation along its 13 km (8 mile) path - Here is some of that wonderful rainforest, a log runner and a pademelon (a mini wallaby!)
